Gabarra hires Emma Hayes as his assistant.

Looks like it was Nicci Wright that left--she was listed as an assistant last season, irrc.

Did Nicci go with him to Jersey? I'd been wondering what happened to her in all the MagicJack hullabaloo.

ETA: Just answered my own question: yes, and at the moment she's still mentioned on the coaching staff page.

SCF, yeah, I checked the SBFC page to see which assistants were there last year b/c I had no idea.

As for Hayes, this is a total re-tread hire. I guess the instability in the league and the (I'm assuming) low pay is such that there are tons of options. But still. Providing 2012 happens, she's now been on as many WPS teams as the league has been alive (CRS, WAS, WNY, and SBFC).

Why teams in this league keep rehiring her is beyond me. I don't know how much she had to do with WNY success last year. They had a pretty good coach, great players and deep pockets. I'm actually curious as to how many players she persuaded to come to WNY and get signed. I don't think they really needed her to put together that team.

Emma Hayes failed as the Head coach of the Chicago Red Stars that had a boat load of talent it's first 2 years.
What these people see in her, I don't know.

Hayes was Gabarra's assistant with the Freedom . . .

For the latter part of the 2010 season, that is.

Went from 0-5-0 to 4-1-2 once she came on board, though I'm not sure how much credit she deserves for that.
