SIU Edwardsville joins the MAC as an affiliate

I did not mean to steal your thunder. I am very excited!

 

In terms of competitive balance and strength of schedule, that's certainly an upgrade for MAC Soccer (at least most years). This is a program with a long soccer history and recently has sent some players to MLS.

Conversely, for SIU-E, being able to recruit saying you've got Akron (likely) twice a year should help gives you a nice in-state conference rivalry with Northern Illinois. Also playing WVU once a year makes recruiting in the East a tad easier.
