Simek and Sheffield Wednesday will be taking on Charlton on Saturday from the Valley.

Wednesday are still trying to sign some players:

Including Sam Sodje, who's a defender, from Reading.

No word yet on Gibbs, but defender Yassin Moutaouakil (who'd been playing quite well) is out for at least a month with ankle ligament damage.

I've been monitoring Charlton's website for news, but the preview of today's match doesn't mention him.

The gossip page at BBC has Sheff Wed trying to sign Boro striker Jason Euell.
Francis Jeffers is injured (as usual), so they need some depth at that position.

    Simek starts for Wednesday
Gibbs doesn't make the matchday squad for Charlton.
This game is just now underway.

Should've played Gibbs. Then it would be a 0-0 defensive epic.

Charlton are still actively signing defenders.
Mills isn't competition for Gibbs, but Sodje would be.

They've already got Yassin Moutaouakil, Ben Thatcher, Paddy McCarthy, Chris Powell, Madjid Bougherra, Osei Sankofa, José Semedo, and Jonathan Fortune.

I think its Moutaouakil who's out injured now, which may be a reason for more signings.
I put all the defenders on there, because I think Gibbs is flexible enough to play anywhere on the back line.

I'm at the point of wondering if we're gonna see Gibbs play for Charlton. It certainly doesn't look likely this year.

I know we've heard from the man himself in the US soccer press, but has anyone at Charlton actually mentioned him in a while? Silence can be telling.

Every Saturday morning before the games I go to Charlton's website and look for news on Gibbs, and there never is any. He's never mentioned as even being a possibility for the lineup.
Here is the reserves schedule, and as you can see they've only played one reserves match. He wasn't in the squad. And they don't have another reserves game until Sept. 10th!! So he's not remotely close to match fitness I'd imagine.

In case people want his history, I think the Addicks website does a good job.
