Ah, good call. Think I still may tweak the last to lines a bit more, though. ;-) I also want to write another verse or two, simply because I honestly cannot remember singing just one verse of "America, the Beautiful". Ever.
Considering yesterday's match: "Energy! Energy! We want to see some energy!" (repeat ad infinitum, faster each time) (drumsbeats on the italic syllables (the offbeats)) (should be able to repeat it at least four times before it gets too fast to understand)
Expanding on "Athletica, The Beautiful" So yeah, I basically kept the first chorus' ending lines, just changing "soccer" to "Saint Lou" (I know there are arguments for Kutis and Stix B&F, etc., but I'm gonna stick with this) and put SB's suggestion at the end of the second chorus, but then the rhyme scheme changed a bit, so it needed a little more tweaking. ^.^ In theory, I could come up with a third verse, most likely focusing on player names, but considering the tempo of "America, the Beautiful" I don't want to push a third verse/chorus on the crowd/game.
lol Yeah.... I hope tomorrow will be the 'practice run' for Sunday - we need to rehearse "Meet Me in St. Louie", "Athletica the Beautiful", and perform "Waltzing Matilda"
That little ditty brings a tear to my eye. ANYTHING would sound better than the gawdawful national anthem from last night. It sounded kinda like the Star Spangled Banner - if played by a 4 year old on a broken kazoo.
Too bad we don't play Sky Blue anymore this year. We could bring back the "If I coached you, I'd leave, too" chant.
Never say never. There is a chance they could make 4th place and then play us at home. Which would be great!!
You know instead of the Waltzing Matilda (which even after youtube I have a problem with the melody of the tune), maybe for Walsh we can do the simple Oi Chant. Leader: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Group: Oi!, Oi!, Oi!, Like this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFKPWsQmkQU&feature=related"]YouTube - Aussie Chant at the cricket match[/ame]
Were they watching cricket????????? That would work fine, but it really disturbs me what they don't teach in schools these days. "Waltzing Matilda" was one of the first songs we learned in like 2nd or 3rd grade. The state of modern education. Hmmmppppphhhhh!
Cricket was just an example, it's done at soccer matches as well... And Matilda in school? And my teacher was playing Joan Jett....the shame.
"Mitts, Moore, Smith, and Scott You sure as hell ain't got a lot" Unfortunately, Scott will be suspended. (well actually fortunately except for this chant). "Oh where oh where did our A-Rod go Oh where oh where could she be Tony got a burr up his ass And A-Rod we just don't see" Only if A-Rod doesn't make the trip of course. "Our Brit's better than your Brit Our Brit's better than yours Our Brit's better Cause she'll put it in the net Our Brit's better than yours." Okay, you'd have to remember the old Ken-L-Ration commercial song for that one. We probably need to come up with one about Tony crying about the refs, because he's public about his disdain for the officiating in this league.
I won't get new vinyl on it before next week, so it's currently red, but I got a bass drum. Yea! for keeping beat.
While randomly arranging songs for my A Cappella group, I came up with a 'party' version of "Meet Me in Saint Louie" - I'll have to (remember it and) teach it to you guys next time I see ya. =-)
