This was the team I posted in the Wolves thread before the Wolves game: Shrewsbury: Adrian Williams Matip Lovren Larouchi Fabinho Lallana Jones Shaqiri Minamino Origi It will probably be mostly the same, but Klopp will have to make a decision on Minamino who he said had a knock, especially if he is going to replace Mane on Wednesday. Fabinho got some minutes in his legs last night, so it’s possible that he doesn’t play this one and starts West Ham instead. We also don’t know if Shaqiri will be fit in time, which defeats the purpose of a squad player if he’s unavailable every time you’re ready to use him. Chilivera and Elliot will be desperate to take their place.
I think you are on the right track there Suss. Play the lads who have been on the bench and fit and bring in a few youngsters too. None of the starting XI should leave the massage table.
Just pulled up Shrewsbury in Google Maps and it looks like the quintessential little English town. A lovely away trip for sure. Ah, makes me want to go back across the pond...
Is Minamino fit? Klopp say something about a calf muscle tweak. Unless that was cover for him disappearing at Wolves. I hope he's fit this would be a good game for him.
I think klopp goes with a stronger team giving most needed playing time to our players who are coming back from injuries Adrian Neco Matip Lovren Larouci Lallana Fab Elliott Jones Minamino Origi Adrian Williams Matip Hoever Larouci Chirivella Lallana(c) Jones Elliot Origi Minamino
Shaqiri is saying he won't be ready. Lallana is fit. Keita should be OK. Lovren is back training normally. Mini is Ok. https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php
Watching FA Classics in BBC TV when we played against Havant & Waterlooville. At one point, the score was 1-2 to the visitors with some truly slapstick defending and goalkeeping {remember Itandje?) but quality eventual told as Liverpool ran out 5-2 winners. it’s at times like this that you appreciate the FA Cup despite the FA itself debauching the competition.
Klopp must be getting frustrated with Shaqiri. Every time he is ready to use him, he’s not available. I forget which game it was, but there was one match in the league where Klopp said afterwards that he wanted to start Shaqiri. Anyway, it’s good news for Harvey Elliot. There was also talk that Naby Keita could be in contention to play. Maybe he can at least make the bench. I wouldn’t start him at the expense of Curtis Jones.
Yes. He was constantly bombarded with high balls and soon realised you hardly get a chance to let the ball settle to your liking.
Yeah, wish I could be there. One of those FA Cup classic David v Goliah match ups. With the home team going all out. Even if it's only for pride and a possible replay at Valhalla Anfield. If they hold out for a while or only go a couple down. Look out for the last 15 minutes of fireworks.
#LFC line up v Shrewsbury: Adrian; Williams, Matip, Lovren, Larouci; Fabinho, Chirivella, Jones; Elliott, Origi, Minamino. Subs: Kelleher, Keita, Firmino, Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Hoever, Alexander-Arnold.
Glad to see Mini out there. I'm hoping it will give us a chance to see some of what he's got for us. Got some good solids on the bench....in case.
Slightly!!! Different from the Manchester games with their two full premier league teams against minnows. This is entertaining.
One more goal before the half would be nice. Shrewsbury are getting closer with a couple of nice attacks. We're losing momentum here.
Shrews with their first corner in the 46th minutes. Then some silly ping pong. Klopp has to adjust next half.
Fab looks very rusty, which is understandable, but I'd shudder to think how he, Lovren, and Matip would fare right now against a premiership side. Hopefully they will all look better second half.
