Should Canada follow the lead of other countries and search for talent outside it's own borders?

I assume you mean should our clubs sides try to attract forieng talent?

With what money? What talented players would be enticed here?

Mark Chung was born in Canada and it doesn't seem like he's gonna be used by the US any time soon.

He's been capped by the US before but none of them are FIFA-sanctioned matches so he could still play for Canada if he wanted to (and Canada wanted him).

What country doesn't do that? I think nearly every single decent concacaf side has naturalized players on their roster. US has Regis and Mastroani (although he came to America when he was 4).

Too much of a nationalist feeling here, thanks to Don Cherry. Many, who don't even follow the sport, say we should develop in Canada only.

Radz and the others get off due to their standards as being "converted" Canadians.

Marc Bircham should not be playing for Canada (OK he actually doesn't any more because of his run in with the coach). He is not a Canadian and has no ties to Canada other than a Canadian grandfather. That is unacceptable to me. If you immigrate to Canada, then excellent. Eduard Sebrango, great - married to a Canadian, moved here, trying to get his citizenship. I can accept him (hypothetical since he is cap tied to Cuba). Fabien Barthez, married (common law) to a Canadian, living in Manchester, no intention to settle in Canada, him I don't want (hypothetical since he is cap tied to France).

Well Doyle, I know you are a reservist and have an interest in Military History, so why don't you grab a little book by Macciavelli called "The Prince" and read up on what he says about the use of mercenaries.
