I'm watching Flyers/Rangers and have just seen a second person now hurt attempting to block a shot by making themselves bigger. This seems like a great way to get players hurt, and also cuts down on scoring.

So how about a rule that says that you can't go down or make yourself "bigger" to block a shot. Using your stick is fine, and using the skates/legs you're standing on is fine as well, but going to your knees or prone when you're between a shooter and your goal should be a minor penalty, or maybe for fun a penalty shot.

I'd be in favour of some sort of 'illegal shot block' penalty - not a penalty shot tho - the hard part would be defining the illegal blocking stance effectively.
