I found this from the main page of the MLS website today. Looks promising since this is on the MLS main page: http://web.mlsnet.com/media/player/...tratime2_350.wmv&id=23607&pid=undefined&_mp=1
Shep Messing, a Jewish American television broadcaster, who used to play goalkeeper for a few NASL clubs in the 1970s (namely the New York Cosmos).
Shep Messing is no Jimmy-cum-lately either. He played for the Rochester Lancers and Cosmos. He was also in the movie 'Once in a Lifetime' about the Cosmos. He has finger on the pulse of whats going on in the game. He's been here through thick and thin..............there has been a whole lot of thin too.
http://www.si.com/nba/2016/10/28/steve-nash-soccer-tottenham-whitecaps-mallorca-warriors/ How is Steve Nash filling his time now that he's done with basketball? With soccer. Nash dishes on his futbol fandom, how he became a team owner and his favorite soccer experience to date.
There is no doubt he loves the game of football. Apparently he was better than Martin and if he pursued this sport he could have played for Canada and made it in England. Well, it all worked out for him as a basketball start! Unfortunately his stake in the Caps is more ceremonial and he has no serious decision making on the day to day operations. It would be interesting if things would change if he was majority and in charge because he has a serious drive to win, unlike our invisible man we have today.
well, we have 4 owners- 2 are not to be seen season after season- greg k and steve r; if they do attend games, no one is allowed to take their photos and they make No public/media announcements; 1 owner lives in california and is involved in at least 8 other projects/companies- jeff m; steve nash is the other minority owner and besides an opening game glam smile and wave, is non-existent their investment has gone up 5 fold and the attendance has increased to 22 000- needless to say, they are happy and see no reason to rock a boat filled with incompetent signings/recruiting since 2011- hence they hire the entire coaching staff to another 4 years, even though their point total is a measly 46% since 2014 if steve nash is really ambitious about the whitecaps, then he should step up to the plate and take a direct and vigorous involvement, which will require more than just a smile and a wave once a year but i doubt that any of the owners want the club to be anymore than what it is- until the fans start to openly criticize the product on the field- and maybe stop buying STs-, the circus and mess will continue an active and noticeable owner's (s') involvement is critical for any company and club to be successful sadly, they do not see the great potential in this market and are basically screwing up in making it an elite MLS franchise
