The odd thing here is games in early March in the northern US (two of the three matchdays). May? I'd probably go. March? Day of game choice if it's over 50 deg or so.
7pm for a Thursday isn't terrible...but a meaningless friendly in March? This has "southern cities weekends" written all over it.
It just goes to prove that the women are much less important than the men as they are being forced to play in a stadium not suitable for MLS (said very TIC)....
Has anyone seen anything about pricing. We're now a week away from tickets going on sale. I'm trying to get a team/group to go to this, but can't find any sort of pricing info yet. Which makes it hard to get a full head count.
Maybe. Remember Ohio Stadium has hosted the Champions Cup recently, so there's still a chance. Not likely, but still a chance.
I’m still not convinced. The USSF has so much history in this city that I still believe they see value in coming here. MLS may be screwing us with our pants on, but the Joker is not the Riddler. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we get a friendly here sometime between now and the club leaving. Especially if this thing drags on and the Crew wind up playing here in 2019. Now, once they DO leave (assuming), I would bet that they’ll steer clear of us for at least a couple of years, expecting that there will be so much bad blood that no one will be interested. But games have been played in non-MLS cities before, and they will again.
A lot of that would depend on what happens to the stadium should the team leave. Maintenance of the stadium and field is not zero. Ohio Stadium might be ok for a friendly, but... However, after the loss to Mexico here, the value of US soccer coming here is a lot less than it once was. And frankly, I expect this tourney to not be a great success here, especially if the weather is poor. The date and timing is not great (not sure why US soccer thought that this would be a good idea in the northern US (also in NYC) in early March).
They think? Anyone with a functioning brain cell would have gone LA, Texas and Florida...or something similar.
I suspect if the team moves, we won't see any NT games here anymore, at least not Mens. They'll probably still play games in Cincy or Cleveland every now and then, but it won't be US-Mexico. Unless Cincinnati does get expansion, they might be in the running.
