Playing in Germany's 3rd tier, Barry started the season opener and went 75' in a draw and then came on as a sub in their second game (a loss).

Hasn't been seen a lot since. According to Transfermarkt, he started & came off in the 63rd minute of their 3rd league match and wasn't in the squad for the next match and stayed on the bench for the 2 after that. Looks like he started and came off with an injury in the 23rd minute of a Hessenpokal match on Sept. 6th. That was in the middle of his two game stretch on the bench.

Barry has evidently spoken up about receiving some racist abuse in Germany.

There's an objectionable word in the URL of that article, as well as in the article itself. Here's a short version of the URL.

Shawn Barry has started 13 of 17 games for FSV Frankfurt, going 90 in 11 of them. He has one more appearance of the bench, and 1 goal.

FSV Frankfurt are 11th in the 20-team 3rd Liga. Barry is rated as their 5th best player by average kicker rating.

According to T-markt, he started off the season as a right midfielder in the first three matches, then fell out of the lineup for a few games, then has been starting at CB ever since.

Shawn Barry is plugging along in the 3rd Liga. Still starting at CB, he has a 3.32 average kicker rating, good for 7th on the team.

Frankfurt are in 12th, 7 points out of a promotion play off spot.

FSV Frankfurt wound up with 25 points in 3L. 19th-place Mainz II had 40 points.

Wow that's awful. 25 points from 38 games. 38 goals scored, 50 given up.

They had 9 points deducted in April for going into insolvency. Probably also influenced their results since then.

It is the end of his contract, which was until the end of June this year.

Mind you, he's only one of many leaving. FSV finished dead last in the 3Liga with 25 points from 38 games, a full 20 points from safety and 15 points behind second-bottom so there is no thought of the squad being able to bounce back any time soon: a pretty brutal 10 out of 28 players are being released.

Shawn had as good a season as you can expect in the circumstances, playing 34 out of 38 games and going 90' in 31 of them. He was also captain for the last 6 games. With that record, he should be able to pick up a deal somewhere, either in 3Liga or a stronger RL side.

As mentioned above, they had nine points deducted. On the 30th matchday, they were still just 3 points away from safety. Shortly after, it was announced, that the club would get 9 points deducted, which left them almost relegated suddenly. They only got two points out of the remaining 8 games then.

Their squad could probably win the Regionalliga. But it would be way too expensive for the Regionalliga, so in the end most of the players will leave (not to mention that many contracts would be void in case of relegation anyway - that's a clause both clubs and players like, usually).

But, but hasn't Ted Ewsterveld told us how Pro/Rel solves all problems!

If a Sugar Daddy is willing to step in, you can keep a squad together, but then you're dependent on the Sugar Daddy's health, his degree of commitment and the state of his finances. In the end, his support will end (sorry :speechless:) and then you've got an even higher wage bill, with a business department whose hunger has died and the same small fan base as ever. That's when insolvency gets really ugly.
