Shaq Moore: From a rat-infested locker room to La Liga to the USMNT http://www.espn.com/soccer/club/uni...rise-from-rat-infested-locker-room-to-la-liga
Haven't seen or heard anything about Shaq the last month. Doesn't seem to be in the first team picture at all anymore.
not the worst thing in the world. he's only like 21/22, plenty of time to keep fighting for a first team spot. He'll get there.
I think Pedrolo started the last game at RB, and was even subbed off, but no Shaq to be seen anywhere with the first team.
I mean it’s not the worst thing in the world no. That would probably involve the death of a family member. But as for his soccer career. It’s a pretty bad sign. Perhaps the best case scenario for his career is that he’s actually good and the coach hates him for some unreasonable reason. Being unable to break into Levante at 21 isn’t promising for being above the mean for US developed players
It looked like he might be back in the picture a few games back when they had no LBs healthy and only one RB available (Coke was suspended after a red card the game before). Shaq was in the running to get the start at LB, but they went with the LB from the reserve squad instead. I think Shaq is still training with the first team, but the priority seems to be for him to play primarily with the reserve team, which is in a battle to move up from the Tercera to Segunda B.
lets not forget Levante are only 1 spot clear of relegation, though 3 wins in the last 4 games have them 9 points ahead of 18th place with 4 games to play not a season for experimentation
Shaq started went 90 as Levante UD B win 1 - 0 over La Nucia in Spain's Tercera Levante UD B are top of the table (on GD) with 1 game remaining
Started today for Levante B in Spain's Tercera. (Still waiting for more detail) #1 Levante B won 0 - 1 at #3 Orihuela CF to give Levante the league title and puts them in the Tercera Division Play-Offs
To make sure it's clear: Spain's Tercera (Third) division is in reality their fourth level league: La Liga, Segunda, Segunda B, and Tercera. More or less equivalent to the German Regionalliga, with 18 regional 20-team sub-leagues. IMHO, what Shaq showed in La Liga was good enough to get him more appearances there, he's quite under-rated playing in the 4th division.
Levante on fire, btw, before handing Barca their first loss of the season (5 in a row) and will be in La Liga next year comfortably
They went with a temporary loan to make sure they weren't relegated. Fair enough. It also insured that he got consistent minutes in the Tercera C. Not the best level ever but certainly not poor. Now the question is after giving him a contract extension is he going to get a run out in the preseason to make a case for himself as either the presumptive starter or a bench option, squad rotation slot. Like so many others a good showing in our summer friendlies could really help his prospects with his club team. The other seemingly positive thing is that while Levente weren't relegated they still don't have a ton of money. Bringing in a new fullback to shove Shaq down the the pecking order means less money to spend anywhere else they need it. I'm trying to contain myself but I've got really high hopes for him, Parks, and Robinson to all land in good positions with their parent club rather than go out on loan again.

A little about Levante' opponent; CD Calahorra won their Tercera Division group, going undefeated for the season - ending with 104 pts and a GD of +120 (WTF!!) Levante UD won their Tercera Division group, with 84 pts and a GD of +41 Today's match at CD Calahorra is the 1st of 2 legs. with the 2nd leg at Levante on 26th May
Shaq goes 90 as Levante UD pull off a huge win 1 - 2 over CD Calahorra and will have that 1 goal advantage going into next weekends 2nd leg
This is probably a huge deal for him and his club. Totally understandable and I hope he continues to excel so he's part of their first team plans next season. His competition the 36 year old and the loanee should both presumably be gone. He may not have a better chance to lock down a roster spot.
