  2. One of the CD's of PSV, de Wijs, who just was pulled back from loan with Excelsior, is now according to Italian sources the target of Lazio, who see him as a replacement for fellow Dutchman Hoedt, who's probably on the move to the EPL.
So it seems the Italians kept an eye on him while playing for Excelsior. Another example of not having to play for the Dutch top three to be on top league teams radar! As de Wijs almost only played Eredivisie matches with Excelsior it shows top clubs even have watchfull eyes on low flying clubs in the Eredivisie. Shane should keep that in mind! Shine with Excelsior and who knows where you end up.

Maybe skipping college is a bad idea for some of these kids. Need some time to, you know, develop cognitive skills.

Getting less snake like people around them would be helpful.

  7. Shane tells something familiar for those that followed Miazga's path at Vitesse and the comments in his thread:

O'Neill's time at Breda not only helped revive his career, it helped sharpen the technical aspects of his game considerably.

"We played out of the back at all costs at Breda and I just feel like that helped my game so much in terms of confidence on the ball and playing through the lines," O'Neill said. "You had to be able to play through the lines and play it forward, and I love that style
    ."

The article implied that O'Neill had trouble mentally adjusting in Europe, but it skirts around the core of the problem - at Mouscron and at Cambridge, he was thrown into the mix as a random loanee by Apollon. I'm sure that period was really hard mentally, but it all stems from poor career path management.

I forgot all about him when I spotted Payne starting in this "futures" competition. He got the start, too.

  16. NAC Breda already swallowed 12 goals in 4 matches. Think they should have continued with Shane.
