It's a good thing we Yankees knew this would happen and decided to send a C team, and then purposely had them miss open chances. . just so we could show our disgust with CONMEBOL's lack of foresight. . . we also beat Brazil in the U-20's just to send them another message on another continent. CONMEBOL, you've been warned. The Yankees are on to you.
People complaining that Venezuela plays Uruguay, now. Isnt Venezuela the super weak baseball team that was going to get blown away from Conmebol and into Conmebol's div 2 aka Concacaf by Uruguay and Peru's super human-studded european stars of earth based players in group A? Jesus Chirst
There are three group winners and only two third placed teams. Peru didn't win their group at the last edition. They finished second behind Colombia. Colombia played against Costa Rica, the worst of the 3rd placed teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
It is ironic though... out of the 12 teams competing in the tournament... six of them went to the last world cup... and guess which groups these six teams are in... well, NONE are in the hosts Group A: a group where the four teams involved have ONE world cup appearance between them over the last 17 years!!! Instead, you have three world cup regulars in group C (USA, Argentina + Paraguay) + 3 in group B (Brazil, Ecuador + Mexico - who all reached the knockout stages I may add). I guess one could say it's just a coincidence but it does seem just a litte strange...
