Hey everyone! South Florida United is putting together a road trip up to St. Pete for the Strikers-Rowdies match on July 4th! Check out the Facebook event for more info:

If we can get up to 30-40 people going in the next few days, the team will assist us in getting a bus. Otherwise we're probably going to rent a van or two and drive up ourselves.

Either way it should run around $30 per person, which will include the vas, gas and game ticket. Join us!

Come on people let's get on-board! It will be a fun ride up and back. You don't have to be part of the supporters groups. Let's support our team. Go Strikers!

...and flags, banners, etc. etc. Word is they won't let us have ANYTHING.

Don't worry, we'll think of something to annoy them :D

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'm really starting to dislike the FCTB FO.

Well they let Ralph's Mob have flags and a drum.

The worst part about it is it's not the FCTB front office, it's the St. Pete baseball commission that runs the stadium. Just like last year when they played at GSF where the Yankees held final say what could come in. Unlike that, there is no baseball at this stadium, no BS "Yankee tradition/image" to deal with. It's a soccer stadium now except for like one week in late March. But these baseball guys are still living back in the 1950s. I get that it's a historic venue for baseball, but nobody plays there anymore. No one wants to have spring training at a facility with no practice fields, nobody wants to run a minor league team at a stadium that's so outdated, and also a few blocks from a MLB ballpark, when beautiful complexes are all over FLA and AZ.

    UPDATE:

Everyone, we have the finalized details for this road trip. Anyone who wants to go is welcome. We've reserved a 15 person van.

    • Cost is $35 per person (Cover ride to/from St. Pete and game ticket)

You have 3 chances to reserve your spot:

    - Wednesday, June 22 • USA vs. Panama Gold Cup Watch Party @ Mickey Byrne's in Hollywood
    - Saturday, June 25 • Strikers vs. Puerto Rico at Lockhart
    - Wednesday, June 29 • Strikers vs. FCTB at Lockhart

The deadline is the game on the 29th, as we need to get our tickets in advance to receive the group rate.

Once we fill the van we're looking at carpooling for everyone else.

Help us fill the van and show Tampa who's boss!

Yes as chichi said above if you are driving up on your own, you can pay $10 in advance and we'll reserve your ticket with the group. You save $4 on the day of game price.

I was able to get flags and one drum approved for you guys. I know it isn't everything you'd want as traveling supporters, but its a start and better than nothing. Poles have to be no more than 5 feet long and no other noise makers other than ONE drum.

Hopefully this will help you guys get more people interested in making the trip.

Much appreciated. Baby steps I suppose. Hopefully if everything goes smoothly Monday, when we come back for the season finale perhaps the rules can be loosened some more.

    Looking forward to the trip.

It's still a tough sell for a holiday with a work day right after, but being allowed to bring the flags and a drum will help fill our last few seats I'm sure.
