Not really. Just saying that it's not a clásico and also comparing it to Argentina vs. Brazil is a bit...ridiculous. I don't term it a clásico the same way I don't term Argentina/Chile a clásico, though some people in Chile choose to.
Yo tambien.
That really doesn't change the fact that it's a rivalry. Peru aren't only rivals because of football, you also have to take a look at the Chilean invasion of Peru a long time ago. Similar to Japan vs South Korea, not rivals because of only footballing reasons. Paraguay has more wins than Brazil in the 21st century, that doesn't make Paraguay a better team than Brazil. Chile are miles above us but as I said our matches outside of santiago, usually end in close affairs.
So you expect a new coach to completely overhaul a team anytime they take charge of a national team? Was Sampaoli supposed to ditch Bravo, Vidal, Alexis, Medel, Valdivia, etc. in order that the team be called truly his? What defined the Chilean version of Sampaoli was the connection the players had with him, and perhaps other tweaks he put in that led to their success. Pizzi likewise has been working on some changes, and it seems that they are ready for fruition in particular the width that Puch gives them. Also, Chile had been missing Aranguiz for a while and it looks like a more efficient side with him in midfield.
Some people seem to be now thinking Chile is God after 1 great game. Still, the previous about 6 or 7 games were many of them somewhat mediocre. The Bolivia game wasn't too bad, controlled possession and more chances. I do think Vidal is a big miss. He is sometimes Chile's star and other times quiet, but is a good attacking midfielder. Without him is there a possibility they will miss some creativity and link between defensive midfielders and attackers. If Vargas and Sanchez continue their form, and they play well as a team, he might not be missed in the penalty box, but wondering if Chile could be less fluid without him. He was actually quite involved in quite a few of the goals against Mexico. Still, I'm not sure, we'll see. I can't see Vargas repeating his heroics, he does have a great goal record at international level, but I think if Chile win Sanchez will be the star this time. Whenever I've watched Colombia in the last year or two they seem to have lost a bit of the spark they had in 2014, and some games are sometimes boring and low scoring. I still think this is a close call though.
I dont think even us chileans think Chile is "god". Colombia is tougher than Mexico, and we are missing our best player.
I see Chile passing to the final and taking the Cup. A final of Argentina vs Chile would be better than Argentina Colombia
Be prepared for Wednesday- Significant severe weather threat shaping up for the Chicago area https://t.co/cZ7KXumzuq pic.twitter.com/pC7dqGFByn— Skilling (@Skilling) June 21, 2016
If the Chicago Semi would have been yesterday it would have been perfect. The weather was so nice last night. Oh , well. Que sera, sera.
I love how now Chile is waaaay better than Colombia. I guess we can all agree that if Colombia beat Chile will be a freak result
I dont think Chile is wayyy better than Colombia. I think it will be a good match it could honestly go either way. The reason i say the final would be better Chile Argentina is becuase it was the same final as last time and it went to penalties, hopefully this time the game is defined pre penalties.
