Seve Ballesteros passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning aged 54 at his home in Pedrena, northern Spain. He died as the result of a brain tumour which struck him down in 2008. A true legend of the game of golf, he was Europe's best ever player. First European ever to pull on the Green Jacket, he changed the face of European golf to make us competitive with the Americans. It was said of Seve that sometimes he played brilliant shots that only he could see. A complex personal life and a sometimes unapproachable personality led to a rollercoaster career at times. Lee trevino once remarked that golf both made and destroyed Seve. Seve was also a football fan of his local club, Racing Santander. The man was a true sporting legend. RIP
