Watching the game. Not a lot to report. The game is primarily being played through the middle of the field so there isn't a single fullback on the field on either team that's getting many touches.
He's got a lot of confidence. Taking players on and trying to make plays now in the 2nd half. I like it, doesn't look phased by the occasion.
Sergino Dest, a big part of the current U.S. U20 cycle, played as a right back for Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie earlier today. There was one obvious takeaway from his first appearance with Jong Ajax: Dest's skill on the ball is next level. pic.twitter.com/Et2xcaKMMz— Joseph Lowery (@joeclowery) October 15, 2018

Weird one, I see potential at the wing spots, buuuut image the ball skills with bello and him at the lb and rb spot respectfully.
A comment from an Ajax fan on an Ajax forum regarding Dest: "Why does Dest have no contract yet? Made a much better impression on me than Bakboord, who showed little this season. Let him stay and start, I would say." Bakboord is a 19 year old right back who had started every game of the season up to this game, but he is currently on international duty.

Looking at the highlights, he could have had a lot more than 1 assist: Served up some easy chances that his teammates failed to convert; his 1 assist was all his teammate. Funny how these things go.
Sergino not on u-20 qualifying roster. Perhaps Ajax wouldn't let him go (wisely, in my opinion). https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...amed-us-squad-2018-concacaf-u-20-championship
I get what you're saying but, by that rationale, why call anyone? I like the showcase the major U-20 tournaments provide.
True for u-20 World Cup. Not sure it's true for u-20 concacaf qualifying - not a major showcase for players already on big European teams.
Well, if he wants to make it as a young player, Ajax is a good spot. Given that they get raided by leagues that have more financial resources, i think there is huge player turnover. Checking their roster, I think 75 percent of their players are 21 and below.
Op de bank van #JongAjax zitten overigens: Van Bladeren, Kemper, Thetani, Nunnely, Jensen, Sierhuis, Dest, Solomons.— Ajax Showtime (@Ajaxshowtimecom) October 26, 2018 He is indeed on the bench. Game is at halftime.
For an 18-year old, this is not an insignificant development. Andrija Novakovich was 21 when he debuted in the Dutch second division. It's not apples to apples but Dest is way ahead of that pace and while Novakovich isn't world class, he's had a good start to a pro career.
It is strange that he hasn't signed a professional contract thus far, yet they still value him enough to play him valuable minutes
