Takes home the 2019 U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year award ... https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ale-young-female-and-player-with-a-disability "“It’s an amazing award to win and I’m very proud of this moment,” Dest said. I want to thank U.S. Soccer for the nomination, I also want to thank my family, my mom, my dad and everybody who has helped me along the way. Without them, I would not be at the level I am right now. This is a great experience for me, and I look forward to winning more team trophies with the U.S. in the future. This is a really pleasant moment and it makes me feel valued.”
So, Dest bags a brace and no mentions here? http://americansoccernow.com/articl...ooks-surges-in-midweek-americans-abroad-games True, Dutch Cup game vs lower league team, but good stuff, especially the 2nd one.
That applies to the Yanks Abroad forum. Discussing both is fine in this forum, especially in this thread.
"The U.S. men's national team's biggest win of 2019 arguably came in the recruiting game, as it landed 19-year-old Dutch-American fullback Sergiño Dest's international allegiance. Dest has come through the U.S. youth system and performed at U-17 and U-20 World Cups, whereas the Netherlands latched onto him only when he seized more playing time at Ajax, and that initial loyalty appears to have been rewarded. In Dest, the U.S. has a fullback pillar to build around for years to come, which is not something to take lightly considering the recent state of the player pool." https://www.si.com/soccer/2019/12/25/us-soccer-top-stories-2019-uswnt-usmnt-rapinoe-pulisic
Those are both fantastic goals. The first one is hit first time and bends upper 90 with some power at somewhat close range...not all that easy to do. If only our strikers could finish like that.
Word. If CP could shoot like that he could consistently be a top 10 player in the EPL. So much talk about Dest moving to O on this forum... I would love to see it for a few games with AJAX. At any rate, I see Adams, CP and Dest as the elite talent on the USMNT right now. It gets me thinking as to the best formation w/ that in mind... Adams needs to be the CDM... but perhaps they should all be in the midfield?... Let your best players get the most touches on the ball... Morris - Sarget - Weah/Weston Pulisic - Adams - Dest Robinson - Brooks - Miazga - Yedlin/Cannon Kind of a different 4-3-3 than I would have put up just a couple of months ago... seems experimental... but I like Weston up front on the high-press trying to win balls and again, love the idea of our best players getting the most touches on the ball.
we cannot have three attackers and then have Pulisic as one of the three MF. Any good team would destroy us defensively.
The execution of a shot on target is independent of the quality of the opponent. It has to be judged on the execution of the technique required to deliver the shots and as such they were great!
That’s an interesting lineup. I’d move Cannon to the left and keep Yedlin on the right. I’d put Tim Weah at center forward and start Wes on the right. Im with you, though. I think that Dest is best served further upfield.
I would argue that the pressure put on by a good opponent n the related issue of confidence against a weak opponent affects the te
It makes the execution more difficult if so, but the technique of it stays the same. A weak opponent doesnot make the target/goal mouth bigger
