Because if he's passing the ball but gets fouled right after than that would have been a penalty. But like you said the Keeper got a touch on the ball.

A chip above the short goalkeeper would do the job

Jesus I hate friendlies like this. Thankfully Muriel and Zapata are coming in now.

We totally and completely dominated a team who is our father

We did it without a 10 and with a team full of subs

Yairo Moreno was hated last game but was great today.

Berrio and Borre truing way too hard to score and over thinking things

If Muriel and Zapata had started instead the game would be 5-0

It's clear for all of us that Venezuela will score in the last minute, right?

ONLY 3 minutes? We had 7 subs from both teams in the second half!

Yairo barely played last game. What was there to hate? I liked what I saw out of him last game and today confirmed it. He’s got b@lls of steel and is the kind of guy who wants the ball. I think he’s going to be a potential option / cover for Uribe. Definitely want to see him in future friendlies.

Borre was “yikes” on some of his touches.

Farinez is a hell of a keeper though - reminds me of memo Ochoa for some reason.

Watched the highlights and everything pretty much went the way I thought it would.
We started a bunch benchers and we struggled to score.

Santos Borre is also who I thought he is. Has no cold blood in his veins and puts many weak shots on goal. With the opportunities he had I think even Morelos could have buried one of them. (Maybe.)
HE is not a #9 and should never ever play #9 again. If he does ever start again I hope it is next to Zapata.

But all in all we did control the game & the tempo and these games are for experiments like this.

Uruguay started a bunch of benchers and tied USA who everyone says is crap around here so think about that result.

Putting it in perspective. We started a bunch of players who had no cohesion and chemistry and still looked very good for the most part other than missing goals against a team that always is pesky.

Uruguay also started an alternate squad without many key players and got a draw against the USA. People would be really ticked off if that happened to us.

One thing that worried me is Montero also punches the ball and doesn’t catch it. Thought that is the main reason for a taller goalie and to get rid of Ospina.

If he does the same Ospina mistakes but is less experienced and not as good totally against him getting the spot.

Tho rather see him against Chile who will actually attack us to get a clearer picture. Venezuela probably had 3-4 shots at Montero all game and at least 3 of them he punched out like Ospina would have.

    Fair points.

I saw Montero come way out of the box at one point in 2nd half Neuer style but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt he knew what he was doing. But then he had a clearance that the Venezuelan was right there to deflect which was a tad scary.

Unless someone comes out of nowhere to dethrone Ospina, let’s keep hoping Mina-Davinson continue to fortify that front line so eventually it won’t matter who’s in goal. :)

The Brazil game Ospina punted the ball and 2 brazilian right open who didn’t notice

That could have easily given them 3-4 more goals on a lucky day

While we tied and dominated the 1st half against Brazil it’s because those chances didn’t go in

Watched parts of the game and I liked yairo moreno..he controlled the midfield for parts of the game and made some great through passes, team seemed to suffer when he was subbed for uribe.

Lerma for me was a bit of disappointment missed a lot of passes-I dont think anyone should ever suggest he is at barrios level.

    Orejuela played decent as well

Biggest take away is Yairo definitely needs to be a regular. I would love to see Barrios-Uribe-Yairo mid field.

This has been Borre first start. Let's cut him some slack. The guy clearly talented.
