And what message does that send to Qatar? This troubling to say the least. I think Qatar will "give up" the WC rather then it being "taken" which essential will happen.

I never thought the US was going to get the bid. Why? Because I thought FIFA members want the infrastructure build to receive kickbacks from.

First, a couple of years ago, Jack Warner promised a 'Tsunami' on FIFA and Blatter....now he promises an 'Avalanche' on FIFA and Blatter...what's next ? a 'Hurricane'....the fact is Warner hasn't revealed a single damn thing....

Not yet, but the rumour was that he was given a deal to keep hush-hush in 2011 to protect Blatter, and perhaps others. He may be more willing to squeak this time around.
Then again, he may just be prone to overblown hyperbole and bullshit...

As I mentioned in one of the other threads, there was the email where Valcke spoke about Qatar having bought the 2022 WC. Hilariously, Valcke talked his way out of it at the time, but people know a bit more about FIFA now...

Huge lawsuits if FIFA pulls the bid.

Then again changing it to winter should result in massive lawsuits also.

Considering Qatar wasn't able to deliver air conditioned stadia, the number of stadia their bid contained, and wasn't able to host the tournament at the time of year they bid to host it, oh and they've become a PR nightmare for FIFA due to their blatant human rights abuses... I'd say any lawsuits would go FIFA's way.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, absent proven voting corruption. It was FIFA itself that moved the tournament to winter and Qatar could plausibly claim that it was under no obligation to demonstrate the cooling technology over seven years before the finals. Additionally, several prior bids have ended up using less stadia than originally intended.

IANAL, but it would be a bizarre set of legal principles that would allow a briber to win a lawsuit when they were stripped of the fruit of their crimes.

FIFA is better off without Blatter, but there's no guarantee the next guy will be much better, hopefully he will be.

Would this happen in the Swiss courts (hypothetically speaking anyways)?

...Blatter played 'em for the fools they are.....he NEVER had any intention of 'resigning'.....just a ploy to have UEFA drop the plans to leave FIFA...
