Nevermind around half the time he was injured or the league was on break, much of the rest the team was getting red carded, and he had a goal wrongfully disallowed. But don't let truth get in the way of a good story.
I don’t think that anyone playing in a decent league in Europe can match his number of goals this season, I could be wrong because I didn’t look.
This is Nova's first season at a decent level. Give him some time. Also he was injured for most of his cold stetch.
It'd be awesome if he pulled a Johnsen and went on a goal-scoring spree in the last 3 months of the season.
It's also in a leauge that can be really hard to judge players based on the number of goals they score.
Funny thing is that Fortuna has hopes for EL football, but at the same time have to fear for relegation, as the points difference upwards and downwards are minimal.
The fact that he can score is pretty solid. We've had some tall strikers before, but they usually couldn't hack it abroad. Whether it was Scandinavia/2 Bundesliga/Austria... if he can consistently perform and maybe earn a recall from Reading; it'll do wonders for us (potentially).
According to his data in Transfermarkt he's out of contract coming end of june. I strongly suggest him not to extend but wait for an opportunity with the better Dutch clubs. Feyenoord are practically without means, so a striker who can score goals and is transfer free would be too tempting an opportunity to let pass by I guess. Van Persie retires after the season, so a spot is open in the summer.
Personally I would love to see how he responds to striker lessons from van Persie, Roy Makaay and Dirk Kuyt. Where in Europe will he get that tutorial level?
With 5 goals and 1 assist he's tied as #41 in the league with three others. Novakovich missed four league games due to injury. He's tied with Stokkers as the third in goals+assists for Sittard. Lamprou, who just returned from injury today, is the #1 (5/4) and El-Messaouidi, a midfielder, is #2 (5/2).
Starts against Heracles Almelo. Succes vanavond mannen! 👊🏼#HERFOR pic.twitter.com/6G630HyVMx— Fortuna Sittard (@FortunaSittard) February 16, 2019
Sittard is one terrible little team. Humble Heracles has dismantled them and it's up 4-0 with time to score three more.
Don't worry, it gets worse! Novakovich had: - the fewest touches (26) of anyone who played the full 90 - 0 of Fortuna's 11 shots - 11 completed passes (17 attempts), and only 6 in the attacking half - 0 chances created On the bright side, Fortuna's matches since the winter break have been goal bonanzas. 5 of the 6 have had at least 5 combined goals.
