Andrija Novakovich at Calcio Lecco 1912 (Serie B)

  1. Fran Sol from Willem II just got a lucrative move to Dynamo Kiev.
So strikers from low flying Eredivisie clubs too jump up in club quality.

I'm telling you, if you like goals, the Eredivisie is fun to watch.

Against the (still) last-place team in the league. Double ouch.

After scoring 5 goals, they now have 19 goals in 18 games. What happened?

Sittard's defense has looked like the keystone cops often times. Looking at each other dumbfounded as to whose job it is to step up and clear a ball. Also didn't have their highest rated CB available.

While Novakovich was injured, they were playing a 4-3-3 with Stokkers as the point-man, and Semedo & Lamprou on the sides. In that period, Stokkers scored 3 goals, Lamprou scored 1 and Semedo scored 0.

Once Andy came back, they played only two up front, with Nova and Stokkers as the pair, and no one is scoring.

For their last Kup game, they had the ol' 4-3-3 again, this time with Nova in the middle and Lamprou/Semedo on the sides. Both of the side guys scored for a 2-1 win, while Nova was about as useful as a cell phone in the moon.

He was talking about Graafschap's goal total. Novakovich doesn't have anything to do with Sittard's leaky defense.

As far as offense, Novakovich is Sittard's highest rated attacker per Whoscored. When he came back from injury he dropped right back into Sittard's lineup and helped them score a big upset at Feyenoord. In addition to aiding in his teammates scoring through taking on players, hold-up, and layoffs; he scored a really good would have been game-winning goal recently that was wrongfully negated by an offside which you played dumb about. But the fans didn't, which is why they gave him a standing ovation when he was subbed late.

It's not American homerism to have some excitement about Novakovich's play so far, it's your cynical nature to always feel like you need to quell it.

No goals, no assists, they have been doing worse since he's starting, and somehow he's their best attacker.

    Alright then.

Small sample recently, keep playing dumb about the goal disallowed, Whoscored is an objective rating system that I use the most and doesn't pretend evaluations are so simple as purely goals/assists, and somehow others are being unreasonable here.

    Alright then.

After the humiliating defeat in the "Kuip" against them Feyenoord should be burning with desire to beat Fortuna up in revenge. Unfortunately (sic) Feyenoord managed to be beaten up by a low flying team this weekend.

  12. Fortuna, according to this article, wants to repeat it's stunt of December 16th last year.
    https://www.ad.nl/nederlands-voetba...de-kuip-we-gaan-weer-voor-een-stunt~a7138600/

It however is a match between two teams that didnot come out of the winterstop all guns blazing so to speak. Feyenoord were disgracefully beaten by PEC 3-1 and Fortuna were beaten up 5-1 by botto dwellers de Graafschap.
So both teams have to mend things, but it's an uphill battle for Fortuna to beat Feyenoord twice in succession in the "Kuip".
But you never know off course.

  15. We've got a real cup fight on our hand.
Just now Nova was too eager going down in the box, no penal.

Another chance for Fortuna, the third again tonight, but Finn Stokkers just hits the ball next to the goal. The first flute concertos are audible in de Kuip.

Quite on the way in the Kuip where Feyenoord has a hard time with a fierce and aggressive Fortuna. For the time being, the people of Limburg determine the rhythm of the race and are master and master, especially in the midfield.

Fortuna Sittard takes full control of Rotterdam after a good opening phase of Feyenoord. Now Kenneth Vermeer rescues on a shot from Andrija Novakovich.

Practice! Feyenoord is released with a fright when Kenneth Vermeer saves on a bet from Fortuna striker Andrija Novakovich.
    2 '

The first chance is for Feyenoord when Nicolai Jørgensen takes 20 meters. Fortuna goalkeeper Alexei Koselev saves at the expense of a corner kick.

Shot by Nicolai Jørgensen, but the Dane's ball just hits the goal of Fortuna. This was perhaps the best chance for the Rotterdam team tonight.

Feyenoord has repelled a fierce phase of Fortuna, but can still create very little. The Limburgers are under pressure during the last few minutes, but they also stand simple.
