Thread title will be updated in 24 hours with the winners. USA will face Japan in the semifinals. Discuss.
Re: Semifinal 2: USA/CAN vs. CHN/JPN [R] I think both teams will play for at least 90 minutes and eventually a winner will be decided that will play in the finals.
Re: Semifinal 2: USA/CAN vs. CHN/JPN [R] Wow, that would send a shock into the tournament. I don't think Japan has ever even made the semis of a major event (World Cup or Olympics) - would be great for them and would hopefully help the image of women's soccer improve there. Personally I would say USA 3, JPN 1.
I wonder what the weather report is. I think that'll have lots to do with it. Not sure really why, but I think the US may have a tough time here, but will prevail 2-2 on PKs.
Should be wet. http://weather.msn.com/hourly.aspx?wealocations=wc:CHXX0008&q=Beijing%2c+CHN+forecast:hourly states that there is about a 65% chance of rain (with an interestingly-worded forecast of "showers/clear"). Temps in the high 70s for the 9 p.m. contest.
Hmmmmm. Well, interesting match. A couple of kinda funny goals hat almost looked like crossover attempts. Hope looked great at times, but a little off in other moments. The team did a great job just plain fighting, though. Appropriate urgency, but no panic. The coaching staff were absolutely joyful as well for most of it. I like this team. I hope we can put up a good fight agaist Brazil. Very tough game ahead. It'd behoove us to try to get ahead, but don't lose it if we don't. Passionate game head.
Duders! Did any one see Natasha Kai totally curse on camera around the 73rd minute? She was upset at the ref for calling her on a foul in the Japanese box. There really was NO foul there. She tries to explain that to the ref and then the ref yells at her. She walks away and screams "Mother********er!" It was awesome! Natasha's such a character! What's up with those mismatch shoes of hers? And how she always cheers for herself whenever she enters the game? HAHA! I love Natasha KAI!
