My mistake. I keep think of Holland as being part of Scandinavia. Either way Northern Euro , Sewedish or Dutch league players clearly don't cut the mustard here. I prefer a Latin American style for MLS and the Quakes.

Joel Qwiberg is a Colombian-born Swedish footballer played for fc Gute , Vasalunds IF, FC Den Bosch , Vasalunds IF and Brommapojkarna

Magnus Eriksson -AIK, Malmö FF, Djurgårdens

Danny Hoesen -Ajax and FC Groningen

    Vako -Vitesse

    Guram Kashia-Vitesse

Stahre was from Sweden and may have preferred that style but I'm assuming Almeyda will bring in a more Latin style or Latin American type of player.

So Georgian players are not only European, they're Northern European now? :)

(The Georgian capital appears to be roughly the same latitude as the Italian capital.)

Georgia is? Never made the distinction. I couldn’t imagine a winter in Rome or Naples is the same in Tbilisi. Georgia.

When it's winter in Rome, it's summer in South America, so yeah, more Latin American players, please. :)

It seems Latin , Argentine and Brazilian players dominate the EPL and Serie A. Saw Diego Maradona’s movie La Mano de Dios last night. He must have been the greatest player in the last 30 -40 years, much better than Messi in my opinion. Not saying Messi isn’t great just not like Maradona. Paul Gardner loves the Latin styles as well.

So far in the 3 new additions, I see emphasis placed on speed and hustle. I like that.

Kinda reminds me of Vegas Golden Knights in NHL. During expansion they took the fast players from the other teams. As individuals, the players are not world-beaters, but together as a fast cohesive unit, from forwards to Dmen, they ran over most of the league. God knows our Sharks had their hands full every time we play them URGH

Messi has scored about twice as many goals as Maradona, all at Barcelona, Diego scored half of his goals in Argentina.

And Messi has won about a gajillion more trophies than Maradona, it's not even close. Maradona won a World Cup, but, if he hadn't cheated who knows how the game would have gone against England.

Yeah too bad drugs did him in....

It would be nice if the Quakes could get a Messi or Ronaldo but sadly they will only go to NY or LA....

Maybe Almeyda can convince some to come?

It's official, and this one isn't a loan, it's a multi year contract for 19 year old with a cap for Peru! Welcome Marcos Lopez!

I'm adding back Jyri Nieminen be SoccerzisOurLife's good research,

Depending on how many roster slots the Quakes end up using, I wouldn’t mind if they signed Galindo Jr. and “Paul Marie’d” him to Reno for the year. I know he had some nightmare mistakes at Chivas but he’s only 19 and I’ve seen several sons of famous players struggle at big clubs. There is enormous pressure to live up to. Think of all the guys that faired better out of the bright lights. Paul Daglish was below average in the U.K. but quite good for Houston. Jordi Cruff could hardly see the field for the big boys but thrived at smaller clubs.

I think a year in Reno would do Galindo Jr a world of good and maybe next year he could get a green card and be ready to contribute to the Quakes.

Welcome draftees Siad Haji, Sergio Rivas, and Mamadi Camara! Siad goes straight onto the roster because he is Generation Adidas, and I will add the other two to our rights area. After seeing some clips I'm pretty jazzed about Sergio too.

Every time I see Chris Wehan's salary of $54,492.00, I keep shaking my head. How is a professional athlete living in this valley supposed to live , eat and train like a pro on this?

Actually, his salary with the Quakes is $0 since he was released after the season ended. Don't know if that has stopped your head shaking or made it worse.:)

If he was released, he is probably shaking his head even more. Eespecially since he went from making $54k-$0....

Something the Quakes should address. It wouldn’t be difficult to add some condo/apartments to whatever training facility plan they build. Temporary living quarters for players coming into the team and shared housing for Academy youths from out of the area and the lowest end salary players.

I know of a local player that is being heavily recruited by Minnesota United. They are offering free room and board including private schooling.

Colleges give players with scholarships places to stay. I don't think the Quakes or MLS does. I remember Doyle talking about some type of housing or something to that effect for academy players. He said it would happen when the stadium was finished, four years ago.

Jesse says we're done. This is it. And it's not good. The 3 additions are OK, but we need better players than them. Where is the 3rd DP? Oh fcuck we are going to get fcuckin slaughtered

The quote from the article addressing this is not directly from Jesse. Stejskal wrote "Things could change in the summer, but Fioranelli doesn’t expect many transactions in or out of San Jose for the remainder of the winter window."

We don't need a ton of movement. We need the right movement. Hopefully we'll see that. Eriksson's tweets make it seem like he expects to leave, so I don't think we're completely done.

what would you call "the right movement" because that's pretty vague. for me it's bringing in a big time, game changing, bona fide superstar DP...but that ain't happening. my guess, even if Eriksson leaves, vacating the DP spot that he is currently occupying according to your list (rumor has it he no longer occupies that DP spot anyway, so that's unclear)...we roll into '19 with Wondo & Vako as our two DP's leaving that third slot vacant. everything I've come to know about Fisher tells me it's very unlikely we see the DP we so desperately need, sadly.
