There has not yet been an official announcement. I think that this is still a rumor. As of today Quakes' site already lists Judson, but still lists Eriksson.

Should be soon to hear something. Premier League clubs can announce transfers beginning Jan 1 thru Jan 31. I hope similar for other leagues? Would enjoy hearing some good news for a change.

Varies from league to league. Scandinavia runs a calendar closer to ours, so it might take a little longer, or not.

Thank you no - I think we’ve had enough of Scandinavian players (at least ones with non-Balkan surnames) for a while. ;)

I was just commenting on when we might see the actual transfer of Eriksson to Sweden. It's not going to happen immediately, unless we're going on the MLS transfer window and not the Swedish transfer window, but I think both have to be open, yes?

In any case, Sweden's season starts later than the EPL, therefore the window opens later.

Also, I agree that players in the Scandinavian leagues are probably not good enough for our league. So I don't want to look there.

I keep saying Central and South America because players from those leagues have done well in MLS. Also, I suggest Eastern Europe, because plenty of players from those leagues have done well in MLS, and they cost less. We aren't about to sign stars from the EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, or Serie A anytime soon. So we still need to do some bargain hunting. But again, probably not in Georgia.

On a funny note, often times when I type EPL, my fingers automatically type ELP. :D At least, I find that amusing.

    Go Quakes!!

Marie's status always seems to be a mystery. I don't think he is on loan anymore. The articles about his loan don't specifically say it was for one season, but both MLS' and Reno's infer it by saying he could be recalled at any point during the 2018 season. We'll probably have to wait to see if he makes the 20 for this year of gets another loan to Reno.

I'm adding Christian Espinoza, whose loan deal we also do not fully understand. I sure hope there is an option to buy in case he sets the place on fire!

I assume at least one or two international slots will open soon. At least I dearly hope that’s the case!

And I will eat my hat if we have more than one DP as it currently stands. Unless Wondo is in the middle/end of a multi-year contract he will no longer be a DP, and if Ericsson is still occupying a DP slot in March we may as well just give up.

if we don't do something HUGE on the DP side, 2019 will be a carbon copy of 2018 only with less fans in attendance and fewer season tickets sold and maybe one more win on the season. mark my words.

If the team plays as one I won’t care what designations are next to player’s names. Stahre was a major idiot. His communication skills were atrocious and the team was brain dead all year. I’m not expecting miracles but I know Almeyda will not be as bad as Stahre. Even if he starts with worse players....

maybe Almeyda is better than Stahre, we'll see, he hasn't coached his first MLS game yet. but for me it's all about the player roster. could a better coach get more from our current players? perhaps. But not enough to move the needle much i.e. make the playoffs. it should be painfully obvious to anyone paying attention by now that we need serious roster upgrades from one end of the field to the other, starting with a superstar who can score goals, mentor young players, elevate everyone's game and sell boatloads of tickets. without that we're sunk.

    This.

I'm not prepared to say Stahre was an idiot, so I've excised your post. But the 2018 Quakes were not a team. They were a dysfunctional collection of players (notwithstanding the politically correct denials by former players). A 2019 Quakes team, with the current constellation plus a promised left back, will qualify for the playoffs.

By the way, we need Qwiberg’s international slot as bad as Ericksson’s. The fact he’s not even starter quality in Reno shows how badly he needs to be gone. Fischer likely needs to eat his contract and cut him loose. I’d rather see the Quakes pay Galindo Jr. to play in Reno than Qwiberg.

You also do not have Jyri Nieminen listed as another Goalkeeper Coach. Many question if he will be sent to Reno, but until that - or something - is announced, he is still on staff as a coach.

Thanks. I had thought the entire coaching staff was replaced by Almeyda, but in looking back at that article it only names Ralston and Tella. I'll add Nieminen back in with the next announcement.

From the MLS Transfer article, our expected starting lineup:

GK JT Marcinkowski – Nick Lima, Guram Kashia, Harold Cummings, Marcos LopezCristian Espinoza, Anibal Godoy, Judson, Vako – Chris Wondolowski, Danny Hoesen

If that's our starting lineup, even putting in Lopez for Salinas, we're screwed. I bolded the two additions to our roster, which means that we keep everyone else.

Assume that Almeyda is a much better coach than Stahre, we still need a new GK, a replacement for Godoy, because he's not good enough, and a starting striker to start in place of Wondo, who comes on as a sub most games.

Yeah, not pumped yet, but still holding out hope that we sign a few more good players, ditch some more deadwood, and get more out of last season's players than Stahre did.

    GO Quakes!!

They need another forward and Wondo will probably be relegated to being a part timer or super sub.....

Affolter played well in his last game with us, but other than that one match, he sucked in the rest of his matches with us.

I like Ockford, but he’s too slow. Keshia is good, but too slow. Cummings is good, most of the time.

Yeah, we could use another CB or two. Again, I advocate drafting some young guys, and sticking them in Reno to develop.

    Go Quakes!!
