Did we really get allocation $'s for losing Urena in the expansion draft? I didn't think you get anything from the expansion draft.

So, no Int. slots available unless we get rid of someone currently occupying one, and/or we buy one from another team.
I say we free up two by getting rid of our Swedish meatballs.:)

I thought the Marie international spot was corrected and he was declared domestic, NOT international a few months ago?

Correct, I'm pretty sure he doesn't count as an International anymore.

On the Quakes website roster Marie is listed as an International, however, Affolter is not.

Great catches! I completely missed Affolter getting his green card in July. I could find nothing definite of Marie, but lots of articles do cite him as being considered domestic since his parents are American. He also does not seem to be listed as and INT on this Quakes roster page. If he was occupying an international slot he should be able to get his paperwork together for this season having American parents. I'm going to take both off and update Partida's salary.

I doubt we got any conditional money out of the Urena expansion draft, but they never seem to release the conditions, so I'll just leave it there.

One area we need to give Jesse credit in is getting Quake’s foreign nationals on the quickest path possible for Green Cards. John Doyle hardly bothered and it was clear he didn’t value the benefits. He was probably too busy with the Mustangs to fill out the paperwork.

sad to see our two rookie forwards not renewed. In this new cut throat MLS, its gonna be a lot harder for players like that to stick around though; a lot harder to find our next wondo.

    168k for quiberg
    232k for afolter
400k for magnus and paying a transfer fee on top of this!
    550k for kashia
    566k for jungworth

all ads up to a ton of budget for players that wouldn't make the roster on any other mls team.

    and....

473k for godoy who was beyond struggling to find his form when he was resigned
    1.4M for vako

is way too much for these players.

    and...

hiring stare on a three year deal for who knows how much while also paying a transfer fee for him is just play crazy on jesse's part. none of this gives me confidence in jesse however he did land MA so he's bought himself some time i guess.

For me, MA’s hiring needs to about more than on field results. It needs to be about changing the culture of the club. I want to see emphasis on rewarding young creative players that can win games. Yes, you need a great defense but the “let’s take punches all game and hope to out grit the opponent through blue collar hard work” has been a disaster for a decade. This team needs the Landon Donovans, the DeRosarios of days past.

If you look at the Roster page and scroll down to Marie he is still listed as an International, though it just could be lazy website updating.

I found this report on mlssoccer.com. I says that the Brazilian paper Globo is reporting that we signed Judson, a 25 year old Brazilian defender on a one year loan. I'll wait to add him until there is an official release.

I'm not as excited to hear that we dealt our overall 2nd pick in the draft. I hope there is a player in the top few we really like and we just don't need the #2.

It's number 2 in the allocation order (for former USMNT players, players returning to MLS, etc.) and not the draft. My guess is Toronto has someone in mind, but the Earthquakes have no plan for getting players through the allocation process.

So, the fist signing is Judson. He's young (26), experienced and seems to be a low risk loan, but he takes an INT slot.

We also traded our position in the Waiver draft to NYRB for the 46th overall pick in the SuperDraft and traded our allocation order with TFC for $75,000 of GAM, $75,000 of TAM.
