Sorry, still a pass, we are not the Euro-snobs from LA who slobber over "over-the-hill" Europeans. I'd rather find the next Vako or Ericksson or Hoesen

Oh, I hope we don't use and international slot on Marie, would like to use it for a more impactful player in the summer transfer window

Agreed, Marie should spend the entire season in Reno like the other draft picks.

How in the hell is it possible that these guys can get green cards in such a short time and our foreign players rarely got them before? What the hell was Doyle doing all those years?

    It's because we're a small club.

Quakes were a small club....Jesse continues to transform the Quakes into a bigger club

I know. I put that out there to juxtapose the Doyle mentality to the Jesse mentality. Jesse is hobnobbing with the German football federation and Inter Milan, while Doyle was focused on recreating the 2004 Kansas City Wizards (Nick Garcia, Sealy - twice, Khari Stephenson, ...).

Not defending Doyle but supposedly until the stadium was approved and built, Lew and John were very tight with their money and wouldn’t let him sign anyone worth much. This was very evident with the players who were on the roster. Even when he got Geovanni, it was only for a short period because they didn’t want to pay him the following year.

Yeah so when they moved into the new stadium they greenlighted some DP signings and he signed Innocent and Dawkins. :-(

He signed Dawkins because he knew him. Innocent could have done well if he wasn’t injured. Dawkins when on loan at $60k a year was actually a brilliant move. When they paid him $800k, it was a very dumb singing.

He scored right away then got injured. How can you judge or fault a player for bring injured?

You can argue they shouldn’t have signed him for the money they did but you have no idea how he will have done.

According to Wikipedia he is playing for Ermis, a team in the Cypriot First Divison. In the 2016-17 season he made 20 appearances and scored 8 goals.

So he is tearing up the top league in a very small country.

He scored one good goal but other than that did not look good to me even before injury. And then how long can injury be an excuse? One and a half years later and he was still terrible, like beyond terrible.

I’m sure someone , somewhere will compare , contrast and/or complain about the “level of the league’s”....

How does the Cypriot First Divison compare to MLS? Just curious...

This is the 2018 roster thread, not a place to resurrect unfortunate memories of players past!

MLS #10, with Cypriot first division absent, in this top 10 list of world's pro soccer leagues:

    http://www.totalsportek.com/football/ranking-best-league-in-the-world/

Would be interested if anyone can uncover a comprehensive recent ranking of league's around the globe. Of course, I don't put any stock in subjective rankings, including the one I have linked, but it does make for lively discussion online.
