You typical, so-bitterly-conflicted-you're-lobotomized, longtime Quake fan. Oh man I punched the mirror again.
Florian Jungwirth who has only been here for around 13 months... that should be the new Quakes standard for getting international signings their green cards!
Indeed! "Anibal Godoy and Florian Jungwirth receive green cards, no longer occupy International roster spots for San Jose Earthquakes" (Center Line Soccer - Tuesday, 2/27/18) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I've heard that somewhere before I scoped Falvo's birds (I've hired squirrels which I think are easier to work with)!
NEWS: Earthquakes sign two MLS SuperDraft selections The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed both of its second-round selections in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft: forwards Danny Musovski and Mohamed Thiaw. Discussions with MLS regarding first-round pick Paul Marie’s eligibility as a domestic player are ongoing. Marie's international status for the next year shouldn't matter because they need to just loan him to Reno for the season, he's no more MLS-ready than those other guys. No word on Partida, I thought he looked decent...
RENO 1868 FC ACQUIRES TWO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES DRAFT PICKS ON LOAN Forwards Danny Musovski and Mohamed Thiaw were signed by the San Jose Earthquakes Thursday and were sent on a one-year loan to Reno, both clubs announced on Thursday.
This is good news! We need to take the draft more seriously, and we need to stash young players (those not ready for Prime Time) with Reno. This is exactly what we should be doing, and we're thin on strikers, so a good call all the way around here. Hopefully, these two develop and get some minutes with the first team either late this season or next. (Even if just a couple of handfuls of minutes, the exposure and working out with the first team will be very valuable.) GO QUAKES!! - Mark
I heard Partida tweeked a knee (meniscus?) in preseason and has about another month to go before he can join any team ... most likely Reno.

Next year maybe we can avoid the hundreds of comments panicking over whether the Quakes have enough international roster spots, speculating about whether MLS will increase the number of international roster spots, etc. https://www.mlssoccer.com/league/official-rules/mls-roster-rules-and-regulations Player Categories on the Roster Domestic/International In 2018, a total of 184 international roster spots are divided among the 23 clubs. In 2008, each MLS Club was given the right to have eight international players on their roster and expansion Clubs were given the right to have eight international spots for their inaugural season. These spots are tradable, in full season increments, such that some clubs may have more than eight and some clubs may have fewer than eight. There is no limit on the number of international roster spots on each club's roster. 184 / 23 = 8 per team
More Green card news. Source tells me Jahmir Hyka is traveling to Albania this week to address green-card related details #Quakes74: https://t.co/QLw6KFKLzB— Joel Soria (@soriajoelfutbol) March 4, 2018
At the end of preseason, it ended up we didn’t have enough because of the Paul Marie situation. So the worriers were right, just not for the right reason. If Hyka can solve the Marie problem initially that’s great. But then we still have to solve the Marie problem before summer DP time.
How would you feel about Zlatan joining the Quakes? He cited one reason for coming to MLS is because there are some Swedes in the league! What if he decided he liked Atherton better than Malibu? Hahahahaha. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/03/05/report-zlatan-ibrahimovic-tempted-possible-move-la-galaxy
36 year-old coming off a severe knee injury? Welcome to 2008. No thank you. There is no "Ibrohimovich" in "team"...
