Seeing Reputation Given

and i want some rep.

 

Now everyone wants in on the game...if only life were so easy.

 

Question: A couple of the reps I've been given are grey instead of green. But the comments are positive, and I assume negative rep would be red. What does the grey mean?

 

If they haven't received enough positive rep themselves, the rep they give others shows up as grey.

 

i.e. shooting blanks

 

Hey guys im new here. I didn't really understand this rep thing. Well I understand what it means and so, but I cant see any "rep button" on the other posts. And I can't see how much rep other people have. Thankful for answers

Is there any way to know if I have recieved enough positive rep to give others positive rep as green , not grey?
I only sometimes come here now and old reps seems expire, so I want to know.
Also sometimes I can't tell the grey rep which I was given is positive rep or negative rep.

 

If someone repped you, and it's not in the drop-down, it's still "counts," but it's just off the "most recent" list.

If you can't tell about gray rep, the best thing to do is read the comments, or PM whoever gave you the rep.

I just wanted to add to the crowd that wants to be able to see reputation given.

It would be a great way to keep track of posts one likes if they ever need to access them again.

And if you're like me and only rep posts that you find especially funny, it'll be good for a laugh.

 

So you want a "Best Of" list to keep track of?

 

I vote for bringing back your rep level to be displayed by your username in posts. I like to have a warning as to when I'm about to read an informative post vs. a moronic one.

Note: I do not want to block the people with moronic posts, because frankly, they are amusing and brighten my day, but a forewarning would be nice.

 

Functionally, yeah, I guess that's what I'm referring to. Rep just seems like a nice way to keep track of it because it's right there already.

Might be nice to have an automated blog post featuring the 5-10 most rep-ed posts of the week or something. No idea how feasible that would be though. Also not sure how many of the most rep-ed posts would actually be worth reading.

Just a thought.

 

I don't know if this is what he means, but we have "latest rep received" so why not "latest rep given?"

Would it be at all possible to give the users an option to turn on or off at will?

 

Lol...that doesn't work. They tried that with the "friends" thingy they have going on - you know, stalk your firends' post and they can stalk you?

I hit the option to have it turned off but my friends still see where I post.
