With how Jozy looked with the USMNT and how it seems GG wants to play, this one skill is perhaps all we need. Good finisher is icing on the cake.

I think the order of operations for an attack is:
    Link up
    Lay off
    Finish

Zardes can do 1, sometimes 2, not 3. Jozy can do 1 and 2 well and 3 inconsistently. Pls give me someone who can do all 3 well and we'll all be much better off

Well, you've got Soto, Weah and Sargent coming through in Europe, with Siebatcheu as a possibility. And if Bobby can get his mojo back, he can still be useful.

Not too bad to be going on . . .

Does this men they are just being scouted? I would hate to lose Soto as I think he is going to be a talent when in fact he is an American by birth.
I hope he would not consider it but we could very well lose him to them if we dont at least cap the kid at some point. God knows Id rather see any of Weah, Sargent or Soto over Zardes..

They probably just sniffing around. Letting him know they are interested in him. It is worth noting though, his team mate Miiko Albornoz plays for Chile National Team. That makes communication between Soto and FA much easier.

True,, but an established international who is also an established first XI for the club has better connections to the FA than a youth-teamer like Gloster has to the USSF, and more in the dressing-room

True. It just reminded me of RB Leipzig's Willy Orban. He was born in Germany to a Hungarian father and Polish mother and he played for Germany's Under-21. According to Orban, team mate Peter Gualsci was one of the driving factors in his decision to play for Hungary ( besides the competition with the likes of Mats Hummels or Jérome Boateng and he never got a call up).
I don't think its a realistic scenario for Soto, unless he is ignored for the next few years.

??? They both played for the US in the U20 WC. Logic says they're firmly in the US camp.

But sure, some people can go ahead and freak out over a fluff piece or teammate nationality.

Drives me crazy, kid has as low of a % chance of playing for Chile as Christian did for Croatia (heard the same nonsense on here about that with the same puff pieces).

I entirely agree that his chances of playing for Chile are really low at this point, and I wasn't arguing otherwise. My point was about the relative influence of a YNT player vs. a full international on someone's thinking in this regard. Neither are likely to have much influence, or should.

Going way off topic here, but screw it. Anyone know what the deal is with South American footballers and tattoos these days?

It seems a bevy of players no matter the region their from have them, but South Americans take it to another level, especially with neck tattoos.

Ederson has the worst neck tattoo I've ever soon. After three years of watching him I still don't know what the ******** it's supposed to be. As fellow neck tattoo owner I'm extremely disappointed. Also those lipstick tattoos should be illegal.

I was referring to a previous poster's comment not yours (now that I say it it's probably clear whose it was). Bad quote tweet by me!
