Got an email from the Front Office today about the tickets for 2018. Seems if you renew, you will then have to opt out of buying season tickets for 2019. This is apparently a "benefit" You will also have to opt out of Open Cup, Play off and Champions League (hahahaha) tickets. Whichever moron thought of this idea, needs a good shoeing. I don't mind if they ask you if you want to opt in to auto-renewal, but having to opt out is a pain. More Front Office idiocy. https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/autorenewal
I've seen that other clubs have been or are doing the same. I want to say Colorado was where I first saw this.
Did you catch the part about when you renew for 2018, you can also secure your seats for 2017 MLS Playoff? So if you are STH 2017 paid in full, IF we make the playoffs this year, getting tickets for your existing seats is not secure. Sound like have to renew for 2018 to get our seats..aka US v Mexico
Nah, it just seemed like they said call to renew, and while you're here, go ahead and throw some more money our way for the *holds phone while giggling to self* playoffs.
Last year they had an early renewal prize. I can't even remember what it was. No mention this year. Seems like there is zero incentive to renew at this point. With how inconsistent this team has been, watching them is a bit of a chore.
What are your prices like? Looks like my seats in Premier East are going up by 9%. If I'm doing the math correctly, that's $594/seat, or $36/game.
Screengrab of "Perks" listed and the fact that AutoRenew is mandatory (with a 45 day period next year to opt out/make changes) and 2017 playoffs are "Pay as we Play" which they've done in the past. It looks like the "gift" is a free scarf. I'm betting that STM's drop another 15% this year like they did last year.
How long ago was that fan scores business? It feels like just a bit ago, but I am guessing that my memory, as per most things, fails me.
It was the 2013 season, July 2013 specifically. I'll set the scene. Mark McCullers was custodian of the Hunt's checkbook; Bobby Rifle was the coach, mid-way through managing the team's first losing campaign since 2006; our previous scoreboard was in ashes, having been on fire a couple months prior; Gregg Berhalter was managing in Sweden, probably didn't even own Microsoft Office 2013 at this point; Eddie Gaven was a professional soccer player; lawyers and investment bankers were doing due diligence on a hedge fun manager from the Bay Area who was about to spend a bunch of money in the next few months on a pro sports team https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/what-grade-did-the-crew-give-you.1990005/
I think I understand the FO's thinking on the auto renewal, but like most things they do, it was not fully thought though and or tone deaf. They thought, 'hey, we're having issues boosting attendence so here's a great idea: we implement auto renewal so that our staff can stop chasing all the STHs every year and focus their resources on growing the base instead of retaining it." But calling it a benefit is obviously disengenuous. As usual, had they just told the truth and people would probably have barely blinked. The other big miss was thinking, yeah auto renewal of HBO @ ~$120/year works well I bet making people commit to ~ $600/seat/year is the same thing and everyone has that kind of disposable income to piss away should they forget to opt out.
