Due to a cancellation, I've been invited to tonight's "event." I'm not one to turn down free food and drink, so I accepted. If you have an issue you would like me to raise let me know ASAP, as I will be leaving for RFK in a little more than an hour.
Is the subject matter intended to be limited only to season ticket holder-specific stuff? Or things associated with team operations more generally?
I'd like some clarification about the season ticket holders who exchanged their Columbus tickets for CCL games instead of Fed Ex - versus - rumors that they're giving season ticket holders free/discounted CCL tickets anyway (making the trade kind of stupid to have offered in the first place). Maybe it's an untrue rumor.
If it seems to be appropriate, I would like to ask about the involvement of our ownership in the team's operation. My (our) fear is that Inter will consume Tohir's time - and money; we don't see much of Chang anymore; and Levien's role is unclear, at least to me.
Season ticket holders could have exchanged fedEx game for CCL games. Season ticket holders (possibly only part of supporter groups, never got clarification... not that I care but I was curious) will get 4 vouchers that can be used for league or CCL games. I think general thinking is that you'll at least use some of them to bring in friends, provided you have some Lonnie (or I guess use some for CCL for yourself). If you're season ticket holder that has no way to use those don't let them go to waste, feel free to donate them to DU
They had a rendering of the actual stadium last night, which (to no surprise) is designed by Populous, who designed just about every sports stadium I can think of. Looks very nice, but they didn't show a seating chart. The team COO was there, and he described the rather intensive set of briefings the team has given the Mayor's office and the City Counsel. I suggested that they brief the latest entry into the mayor's race, Carol Schwartz, not because she has a chance to win but because she has already expressed an opinion about the stadium (she's for it, but is troubled by the very different valuations of the Reeves Center) and she will be in the press up to election time.
So I get shafted again by trading Cbus Fed Ex crap for CONCACAF tickets because I was going to get vouchers anyways. Bringing neutrals to weeknight game is tough.
At the meeting, I complained about the team switching benches, because when I'm in the Champions Club before the match I can not longer look down on United going through their warmups. The reason for the switch, I was told, is that Benny is extremely superstitious, and he went back to the bench we sat on when we last had a successful season!
Me and a couple guys in my section have dubbed the red card walk 'the walk of shame' since they have to open the boards for you and you can't even take the normal route
This isn't worth a new thread but is this now the 2nd season that home games have been at 7pm? The change I've found doesn't really make a difference to me but I wonder what do other fans think. Does the team think it has been beneficial? Are they thinking of changing back?
Well, my kid's bedtime is 8pm and it takes an hour to get home, so I'm happiER with 7pm. But on the wrong day, it makes no real difference to me, as he simply can't function past 7 or 8pm if he's tired. I would think for weekends this is better, it gives people time to tailgate or go out to dinner, go to the game, and then hit the bars or whatever afterward if that's their thing.
I do know that for some who work on Saturday's it is worse because 7pm isn't late enough after work to get to the game.
Yep, that extra half hour actually REALLY helps me, by the time I get back to Columbia Heights, shower, and maybe eat something if I am trying to get somewhere where friends already are. I don't think it makes any sense to be that early for a Wednesday game.
