I have this terrible feeling I will come to regret not having reserved parking but I think I will pass.
I bring it up here as it has been discussed about ownership selling out once the stadium is finished. Rumor has it that the Suning Group will buy out the 30% stake Thohir has with Inter. The value is estimated between €150 to €200 million. Not that any of it will translate to any benefit for DC United, like a roof or better cup holders.
Hey, saw some advertising for the stadium opener on a metrobus today. The bus was going northbound past the Air & Space Museum.
I’ll be parking and taking an Uber. With little ones and my wife’s jacked up ankle, the only thing that really works is the $55/game parking and that’s a no go for the whole season.
Buses combined with spray and pray email marketing ... that's not much of a marketing effort. When Taylor Twellman said multiple jobs ... he really did mean more than 2. I'd say shame on MLS for letting the franchise go down like this, but this is the same entity that doubled down Anthony Precourt. Funny how it takes Anthony Precourt to make me momentarily feel grateful for Levien and Thohir. Kind of like
Stadium cam shows the West Stand field level seats going in... There is still an insane amount of work left to be done. I'll be shocked if they are truly 'ready' on July 14th. I still see areas that need concrete to be poured. It takes 21 days for concrete to fully cure. They are 23 days away from opening...
It'll look OK parked in front of United's goal. Of course Ben will insist it parks facing the other goal
These guys are wearing so many hats, what do you want? He stayed up all night doing the graphics for the bus.
I had my doubts since before the new year, about them getting the place done by mid-July. I guess we'll see what's done, what's roped off and what the minimum viable product is.
Agreed. I won't be surprised if they are still working on AF monday-thursday...then roping off areas on Friday for the game on Saturday/Sunday. Then working again monday-thursday. Obviously the Wednesday games delay things further. I'll but they need another 30+ days of finishing work and punch list items to fix after the July 14th opening.
mmmm SE have seemed to rename the north stand into the Nest again. screw these guys. It should be nothing or Chico. we all agreed upon Javier Solares stand back in October when we all met, you know that meeting the SEs said accomplished nothing lol
I think she's got enough on her plate as VP for Marketing, VP of Communications, sideline reporting, 4th string GK ....
In some parking lot news, I gave a call today to Pacific Parking, the lot under the SE/SW freeway. The nice lady who answered had no idea about DC United games or that Audi Field would open (!). I mentioned the team moving from RFK, and games starting on 7/14. She asked if there was a schedule online. She sounded cautiously open to the idea of opening the lot for DCU games, as long as they didn't overlap with Nats games. She also sounded concerned that no one would park there. Just fyi, that lot costs $10 for Nats games. Google maps says it's a 0.6 mile walk to Nats Park, and a 0.9 mile walk to Audi Field.
They're driving trucks on the concrete they poured this week. I don't think pedestrian traffic will be an issue.
