The OTCs simply mark their private suite at Audi Field. Guess they were part of the "premium" supporters' group.
DC Superior Court orders stadium construction at a stand still until environmental concerns are addressed.
However his stadium turns out it's the game I care about. Keep playing like shite, keep trying to sell dog food as prime rib and the whole shebang can go to hell and I'll light the fire. I'll be ecstatic if what is played closely resembles first division soccer.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2018 starting DC United central defense attachments don't quote all that well
I've been off line a few days and just catching up on ongoing stadium debate. Looking at it broadly, I think our stadium situation is not dissimilar to that of Seattle and Montreal when they came in to the league. In those cases ownership had clear limits on their stadium plans. Soon after Seattle was awarded a team they posted an FAQ document which answered a SSS question with something like "We will not be building a SSS. The team will play at Centurylink Field (or whatever it was called then), which was designed with soccer in mind." Fortunately it turned out that a venue that size was needed, but if Seattle was averaging 15K they would still be playing there. In Montreal, Saputo upgraded the minor league stadium he had recently built just enough to meet minimal MLS requirements. In both cases the message to fans was clear - MLS soccer it will be in this venue, whether you like it or not. We're in the same situation. The city and ownership have settled on this site, and ownership has decided on what it will spend on a stadium, which is less than most of us would want. The result is that we'll have a stadium that most will rate in the bottom half of MLS SSS. It will be better than Columbus and Montreal, probably better than Dallas and Colorado, and probably worse than the rest. That said, there's plenty to analyze, including some possible areas in which this stadium is better than others, including perhaps the angle of the seats and their proximity to the field.
Whaaaaaaaat? The MNU stadium will have a capacity of 19,400? Did I read that right? That's a joke capacity, one that Looney Tunes will quickly outgrow. LOL. p.s. FWIW, isn't 19,400 the oft-quoted size of Audi Field, too?
And they'll need to expand it, quite soon. They're getting more than 19,400 now. If not, they easily will. Then what? That shiny lava-lamp roof will be expensive to tear out and re-install. I'm still amazed. 19,400? This is the era of MLS 3.0+ IMO, any owner with means and land* who knowingly builds a new stadium smaller than 25,000 is short-sighted, board-certified lunatic. *(AF <> enough land)
My dream is allowing boats and ferry's to drop people off at the docks in pictures 4 and 5. That road that leads up to the stadium is full of bars and restaurants that people can go to as they make their way to the games. That would be amazing.
I would tend to agree, but many owners, even as recently as LAFC with their 22K stadium capacity, have been cautious in building much over 20K. This season's attendance figures (below) tend to support that caution. Only a third of teams average more than 21K, and another third average 18K or less. What's unkown is how many of the teams in the middle third could have sold many more tickets with bigger stadiums.
for sure several teams are limited by their stadium capacities. It might be interesting to compare the average to capacity. But I suppose there is some advantage to selling out every match. While you may lose some who would buy tickets you don't have to offer a lot of discounts so it might maximize revenue
So taking away the NER,, what do the bottom 5 (not ours, cause RFK is awesome) clubs have in common? THEY ARE THE WORST STADIUMS IN THE LEAGUE. interesting.....
