A 3-0 win at home to Luxembourg still leaves us with an outside chance of qualification but, realistically, we would need the Dutch to lose their last game at home and us to win in Austria to progress, as I can't see us finishing as one of the 4 best 2nd place teams.

We're the only unbeaten team in the group but we've had too many draws, especially at home. A win against either Austria or Bulgaria would have left us in a much stronger position but now we need to hope the Dutch have a massive slip up. A pity as well after a fantastic away victory in Nijmigen earlier in the competition.

Scotland's Under-21 European Championship qualification hopes were dashed after Austria came from behind to win with a stoppage-time goal.

Disappointing end for the u-21's Euro qualifiers. Holland had already won the group and we were already assured of 2nd but only the 4 best 2nd place teams go into a playoff and this defeat means we wont be one of them.

It was hard for Billy Stark who was running out of striking options with Rhodes promoted to the 1st team (to sit on the bench...) and Griffiths injured but the defence struggled as well and committed the cardinal sin of conceding a goal straight after scoring.

Jordan Rhodes and James Forrest both started this campaign and moved up to the full team, which is after all, what the u-21's are all about. And with players such as our two goalscorers tonight coming through, the future at least, still looks pretty healthy.
