Hate losing Dennison. But it is time that the Scorpions need to start filling out the roster. Looking at the rest of the NASL, we are behind on roster moves!
Being behind the league in getting roster spots filled isn't anything new. Last season, the Scorpions had to hurry and get over Eastern European players who didn't last very long...
That's how soccer is. I don't think any soccer league has a salary cap. Cosmos are a better team with a huge sponsor in Emirates and can offer him a better deal. Would be silly to see him not go. This is why I hate the Scorpions mentality of signing only one-year deals...... We saw the Rowdies sign Wagner for two seasons as well as an option for a third... Meanwhile ALL of the Scorpions signings this year are one season contracts.... ALL of the Scorpions last season were on one season deals... That's why we basically don't have a competitive roster right now.
Haha what's being said? Empty promises from a dead team organization no doubt. The team "said" on a FaceBook comment they would announce a Best XI signing last week but have yet to do so. I'll try to find that comment.
Hmm what's the bigger picture? Finishing last? And speaking of the devil, scorpions announced today that they signed Walter Restrepo. The rights to him were traded by Fort Lauderdale... I'm guessing they sent cash considerations to the Strikers?
MLS has a salary cap. That said I do hope that the Scorpions are signing the players longer than 1 year deals. Where are you finding what the Scorpions are signing the players for??
so the cash consideration was actually a hotel bill??? http://90minutesstrong.com/2014/01/walter-restrepo-traded-san-antonio-scorpions/
Haha it was my guess that they traded cash considerations, since every player they listed in their article as being on the active roster were the only ones under contracts. They later confirmed it on Twitter. Not a bad trade for both teams. Scorpions get a midfielder which they are in desperate need of after losing Denissen. Restrepo might have not liked the situation in Fort Lauderdale and wanted to leave anyways, so at least the Strikers got the bill taken care of on their journeys to San Antonio in the Spring and Fall next year. I've heard from Strikers fans that since the injury, Restrepo hasn't been in 2012 form. He's also got a quick temper (a la Campos) and had come off the bench at Fort Lauderdale many times because of it... So be wary of that.
Was hoping to get better talent at the GoalKeeper position. Vuolo was shaky in the net a lot last season. Scorpion's goal differential wasn't good either... That was an area that needed improvement the most this off season. Sattler had an amazing season in 2012. Superb. We need to get back into form. And that starts with a sturdy defense too. DeRoux was a great re-sign. A lot of people kept telling me in 2012 that Sattler was the key to our amazing .76 goal against average. I told them Sattler was not the key, our defense "was." If you notice the 2012 season, the Scorpions were pretty much unstoppable before July. Claimed an almost 10 point lead over second place. Beat Houston Dynamo (albeit, Houston didn't have key players... But still.....). Then, we hit a slump and almost gave away first place in 2012. Why? Defensive changes mid-season. Before July 2012, Fabian Kling started left defense. Matt Gold was a defensive midfielder. Both of them were benched and barely played after July. That's when we started losing games. Let's build a strong defense to put infront of the net. We had so many miscommunications last season in the defense that led to easy goals, most noticeably in the 7-4 meltdown game.. Let's get some key defensive signings!
So your justification for Vuolo not being good enough in net (which I disagree with) is that the line in front of him wasn't good enough. Another Genius post from Darius Bieber !
Well then here are the options: http://www.nasl.com/index.php?id=3&newsid=5863 Of that list, I believe Martyn Lancaster & Luke Mulholland are still available.
Scorpions have already made that signing with Walter Restrepo who was a Best XI in 2012. Wonder if Scorpions will re-sign Ramirez... Or Harmse... Or many others that we have no word yet on..
