City Council meeting went well. Every speaker was overwhelmingly positive of the project and advocated for it universally.
Nah, the real difference is not having a wall to save you from a bad touch. Also, a ton of futsal is played indoors here during the winter months. But whatever...
It's a lot different... as is having an errant shot rebound off a wall creating an opportunity for your team which would have otherwise resulted in a turnover.
Which is true, but few teams look at indoor as anything more than footskill and movement training. My daughter loved indoor because the grass she played on outdoor was always so bad the flat surface indoor let her show off skills that she wouldn’t even try outdoor. She loved futsal even more because the ball rarely left the ground. Playing 3v3 small field games really sharpened her skills regardless of the ball type.
I agree with this as well. My girls play indoor, and we intentionally don't focus on using the walls and their advantages so they try to play more like they do outdoor.
No but the NIMBY trend on Facebook posts is that this deal is explicitly depriving Columbus City Schools of air conditioning.
Basically: They can't do window air because of electricity overload issues. They can't do central air because of money and infrastructure issues. But tell that to them.
Great reading latest Arace dispatch article that Dee Haslem was shocked to hear a$$hole only attended 6 games over 5 years. Ironic that his complete torch job of the organization likely cost him the club in the end.
He trusted Greeley and he paid the price. What a hard lesson. Everything I’ve read about Dee Haslam says she’s got a big heart. I’m beginning to like what I hear about the Haslams. It will be interesting to see which owner steps to the forefront. It seems like the Edwards family is doing this for the community too. What a lucky fan base we are to have such awesome owners on our horizon.
Disagree. To review: MLS wanted one investor/operator per city. HSG was feeling the screws to sell the team. Precourt buys for a discount with intent to sabotage the team, clearing the way for a move, where he'd flip the team after 2-3 years. Instead, they just made a huge profit and still have "hopes" of their Texas team. The "Group of Three" aka Precourt/Greeley/Loughnane were all in it together. All three will end up together down the road. There was no "price to pay" or "hard lesson."
Does anyone know what happens to the Mapfre name in 2021? Heck does anyone know when the contract there expires? Also, what happens for the city to build a bunch of stuff on property now owned by the state? Will the city be buying the land? I assume the Haslams are going to buy it from the state...
The fact sheet said something along the lines of "the city is in discussion with the state about the land".
Awake since about 2:30. Couldn't sleep. Mostly because I couldn't (still can't) believe what's happened over the past two days is real. I'm too old for this shit. Damn, I wish I'd been able to get to Land Grant yesterday.
https://www.bizjournals.com/columbu...rews-proposed-buyers-pledging-645m-total.html Some really nice quotes from Dee Haslam in the above piece. Also breaks down in a little more detail that $645M total investment number.
Anyone seen or heard when the Dong Arber state of the league press conference is scheduled? I presume it's today, but hadn't seen it listed anywhere.
