Hi guys... just wanted to know your expressions on the current FIFA rankings where Saudi - Arabia currently lies on 63rd Spot. The comparison with other countries is as follows:

Saudi - Arabia VS Asian Countries:
    Sr. # World Rank Country
    1 32 Iran
    2 39 Australia
    3 41 Japan
    4 44 South Korea
    5 50 Uzbekistan
    6 63 Saudi-Arabia
    7 76 Oman
    8 77 Qatar
    9 79 China
    10 81 Iraq
    11 84 Kuwait
    12 85 Jordan
    13 87 UAE
    14 98 Bahrain

So, Saudi-Arabia is on the 6th spot among Asian Teams.

Now, the comparison with Arab Countries that are superior in rank to KSA is as under:

Saudi - Arabia VS Arab Countries:
    Sr. # World Rank Country
    1 42 Egypt
    2 43 Morocco
    3 45 Tunisia
    4 63 Saudi-Arabia
    5 76 Oman
    6 77 Qatar
    7 81 Iraq
    8 84 Kuwait
    9 85 Jordan
    10 87 UAE
    11 98 Bahrain

So, Saudi-Arabia is on the 4th spot among Arab Teams.

Irrespective of the world rank and excluding Australia, I think South-Korea's performance is the best among all the Asian coutries thus far and it deserves a much better rank.

    Welcome back hammad.

The rank is not what we deserved, 50 is more like it. Uzbekistan shouldn't even be in the top 70, but somehow it is higher than Saudi Arabia. And I wonder why Iran is so high. Overall it doesn't really matter, most important that our upcoming games we win the battle in the field.

Uzbekistan is high because it hasn't played in the world cup and lost matches.

And Saudi Arabia played a lot of matches for the world cup preparation either drawing or losing.

Thats why the rankings are stupid, I'd rather lose than not play games.

These rakings haven't taken the Gulf Cup into consideration. Otherwise UAE,Oman and Bahrain would have gained some points. For KSA ,rank 63 is not a fair reflection of its position in world football. Rank 43 would be more fitting.

Mainly because Gulf Cup isn't considered official by FIFA, even AFC.

Saudi deffinately don't deserve to be 63rd in the world...but comparing to Asian and Arab teams its quite fair...except uzbekistan...

The GCC should press it to be declared official.Atleast one of the participating teams has made it to every wold cup since 1982- Kuwait, Saudi and UAE.

Does FIFA consider these games as class A games?Or mere friendlies?

Not even friendlies, lacks any importance to FIFA. Joseph Blatter talked about this and said AFC must recognize it first, then FIFA would think of recognizing it. Bin Hammam said before the Gulf Cup that its performance is similar to street football.

    Similar to street football??

I am sure had Qatar done well in the Gulf Cup, he would have shouted at the top of his voice for inclusion of the Cup in the official tournaments list.

I have bad news for you friend, do not expect things to improve any time soon as Bin Hammam has been elected as AFC president again.

Well Qatar did win the Gulf Cup 17, so he said this while Qatar is the champions, a week before the opening. Bin Hammam is well known for his support for East Asians, and Qatar, and dislikes West Asian Countries. When Ittihad won the ACL against Seognum, he was mad, and admitted he was cheering for Seognum, as he wanted an west asian to win it once, and east asia to win it once. Lame excuse.

FIFA counts Gulf Cup matches as friendly matches. They are thus taken into consideration for the rankings. ALL matches between national teams are counted for the rankings, including friendlies. Therefore, all Asian Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, Gulf Cup and other international friendlies are meaningful, as they ALL affect the ranking. The only difference is that Asian Cup and World Cup Qualifiers have more weight - it is possible to gain more points because of the prestige of these tournaments.

    lol.

Until now with this good Asian Cup campaign how much spots could we go up? We did beat Uzbekistan and Japan, both teams ranked higher than us. I expect maybe 15 spots, espicially if we win the cup inshallah.
