    I thought I'd read that grass would be difficult there because of the weather. Something about the rain not encouraging deep roots, and the field quickly becoming muddy when it gets wet. I assume one heck of a good drainage system would be required.

    I thought it had to do with a vast underground river complex under the pitch where massive trolls dwell who spit their venom onto the pitch if disturbed.
