Another reason, besides being dull, not encouraging activity, that the draft system sucks, especially in match play, too much random luck, probably why I am winning my draft league, the random luck bit.
Although he didn’t win the league, Soccer Steve did win the Sandy Cup. So Bigger Boat (the Sandy Cup runners-up) and Soccer Steve split the Sand Division titles.
We set it up as match play. I prefer it, actually. Keeps it interesting the whole way. In total accumulated points play, it's likely by half way through the season that you aren't winning anything and taking a nap for the rest of the season is easy to find. Furthermore, just as in real football, the team that scores the most goals over the course of a season does not necessarily win the league title.
I like the draft system also and feel it is a more progressive one. The old system isn’t bad and has its pluses/minuses also, but the fact that the draft system doesn’t allow players to accidentally be on multiple fantasy teams and we don’t need to use a cumbersome spreadsheet is a big plus in my opinion over the old system. It is also just as competitive as the old system with HTH matchups every week to decide the title.
I’m a gunners fan and don’t follow Liverpool, but have to tip my hat to them. Amazing blowout win yesterday vs Barcelona in the CL semis and continues to confirm that the EPL is the best league in the world. I think they will win the CL and my Arsenal will win the Europa League. It’s all going to be red this year for the European Championships
And now both CL finalists are from the EPL? Double confirmation that no league in the world is better. A lot of people say La Liga is the best, blah blah blah. Where are Real Madrid and Barcelona? Nowhere.
Spurs comeback yesterday was so stunning. They say they were inspired by Liverpool's and I agree. Family walked in the door from work/school with the last minute of injury time playing out. That's all they saw and then we were all jumping around like idiots. Fun times!
And now we have an all EPL Europa league final as well: Arsenal vs Chelsea. Can’t wait to see both finals
Great to see the title decided on the last day. Arsenal will have to win the Europa league final to get into the CL next season. Chelsea is already in the CL next season even if they lose the EL final, so Arsenal will be more hungry to win it.
