Who: San Jose Earthquakes v. Houston Dynamo
When: Saturday, April 14 @ 9:30 pm CDT
Where: Avaya Stadium; San Jose, CA
Records: San Jose Earthquakes (1-2-1), 10th in West
Houston Dynamo (1-2-1), 9th in West
    TV: KUBE-57
    Radio: 610, 1010 am (Spanish)

This is the fifth regular season game of the year for both teams. In 2017 the home team won all three games. The Dynamo won 2-0 in April and 3-0 in August. San Jose won 1-0 in September.

San Jose's most recent game was a road draw, 1-1, at Philadelphia on Saturday, April 7. Before that they lost at home to NYCFC, 1-2, on March 31.

San Jose finished 6th in the West in 2017 with 46 points. The Quakes are now 1-3-1 in their last five games scoring 7 goals and allowing 13. San Jose is 1-1-0 at home so far this year and was 10-2-5 last year at home.
They next travel to Orlando on April 21.

The Dynamo are now 1-3-1 in the last five games including the 2017 playoffs scoring 7 goals and allowing 9. Houston is 0-0-1 so far on the road this year and was 1-9-7 in road league games last year.

The Dynamo next return home to host Toronto on April 21 and then travel to Minnesota on April 28. That Toronto game is probably pending the results of the CCL semis.

There has been too much SJ roster turnover where more precisely targeted bitterness has been lost. I know Lenhart is gone but surely there is someone worth hating on the Fakequakes rather than someone on another team 800 miles up the coast that won't be seen til October.

Or this could be about the Necessary Vengeance of the discarded Ceren and Alvarez, who have had this Saturday circled on their calendars, in their own blood, since the schedules came out.

Otherwise I feel like I have walked into:

Kids these days do not understand a proper well-maintained vendetta. They only understand Fortnite and eating Tide Pods.

San Jose ain't worth getting riled up over. They're the definition of meh. It's like trying to get angry at the Rapids. Or Philly. You just...cant.

Mildly interested in how Wenger will do at outside back. I think it suits his qualities better at the professional level. Wondering how he’ll do 1v1 defending though? He seems to have the tools.

Jackson Yueill with a nice feed for the assist - same guy Dynamo passed up to trade down for allocation money and then take Joe Holland who is out of MLS.

    Do we have a midfield?

How about some balls to feet in the box instead of everything is a cross.

Wenger is the read deal, that play right at the end is so savvy and saved a goal and two weeks ago Beasley would have dragged down his man. There's a wingback right there. But then you have to figure out a wing forward sub solution.

Looking good for 20 minutes and then getting ground down is what poor-to-mediocre teams do. Goal was again a soft play where people were allowed to knock it around and we weren't stuck in.

Quioto is lazily walking around, half heartedly making challenges, not even jumping in the air to challenge headers, making bad decisions in attack, turning the ball over every time he touches it. This is why he was on the bench. He doesn’t care to be here our he’s incredibly stupid.

When we get healthy I would switch him to RB if possible. His crossing with his right foot is pretty good. But he’s not terrible with his left.

More importantly, we need some attacking players to do something. It’s just not been good enough.

The one ball in on the ground was good but other than that for someone who was initially the equivalent of Elis, and starts for a Hex team, how can you be this anonymous.

Plus for a team press concept he doesn't carry his weight.

Fuenmayor or Leonardo caught ball watching on the first goal allowing a SJ forward space to revieve a pass right up the guy into our box.

Rodriguez losing the ball all the time and can’t get away from anyone when he gets the ball.

Poor acquisitions in the most important positions of the field

Yeah there was a reason I didn't say LB specifically and just said wingback. But then you need to displace Beasley. We have some holes to fill. I'm fine with this because I think Beasley is well past it but would assume he'd be more natural right side.

I mean, you pull him back and Quioto or someone like that has to start up top. it's kind of a buck short situation right now where you plug one hole and create another.

not one player is stepping up to improve the team

Elis really isn’t a creator he’s a finisher who relies on service.

we just will not be able to be a pressing team until we get a better defense

Seitz reacted very late on that goal wtf

Not getting this Martinez thing. The quality just isn't there. Period.
For Wenger to be our current MOTM... at left back... speaks volumes.
The experiment has failed. Sit him. Or cut him. Bring on Memo.
