What a boneheaded move to give us that penalty.

Glad we didn't lose, but a point isn't good enough.

A tie that felt like a win but also like a loss.

Vako was not real effective after that goal... But the result was not his fault. Our dire lack of ability to score on/defend set pieces always tanks us

Philly first goal apparently off an elbow?

well, it was a penalty. the guy went to kick the ball, missed it, and got Shea in the shins.
totally legit and a good call by the ref.

There's no connection between Vako and Wondo like they were playing different games

Are there any two guys who could play on top who seem to have chemistry?

2 points dropped, plain and simple.

Though somewhat more pleasing to watch than domball, set piece defending is so weak, always seems like there is someone free. Though missing Jungwirth played a role for 70 minutes played a part in that tonight.

Horrible soccer! So much for the "fun to watch at home" and "the massive, style improvement of the team"! I guess you can count the pk in the 90th minute exciting. Thanks goes to Shea Salinas once again for coming though in the clutch. Quakes were very fortunate to salvage one important point in the standings but its still not enough for a home game. Here comes the three game road trip. Let's hope they can come up with at least one win.

    Shea and Sarkodie don't fit a 3-5-2.

Why not Quincy being busy on the wings instead of Sarkodie? Sucks that the team cannot defend and does not have a reliable keeper. Going forward when everyone is playing for each other it is a pretty good attack.

They are fun to watch. Look at the shot attempts. At least they're attacking, hell or highwater. Dom-ball you would get 4 shots the entire game and bunker like nobody's business...

Thanks but no thanks. I'll take this new style. This season is done for already when Dom was still coaching in Game 1. I'm looking forward to next season, I'll judge that instead.

    Back from the game.

We can rationalize all we want, the fact is that we almost lost to Philadelphia.

"Let's start so-and-so on the right instead of the left" and other such micro-tuning is not going to help this team.

Yeah so much fun. They were very fortunate to salvage the draw. If they end up out of the postseason again which will be 8 out of 10 failed seasons, I don't find that fun at all.

Yeah, but no matter what they still did their job with a goal each. It was Vako'a first start. It takes time.

Total bollocks defending from set plays screw us time and time again and that is why we'll miss the play offs.

Don't we talk about the same thing every year in August? I want to win now already!

I want to win now as well, but at least this time we won't have a John Doyle / Dominic Kinnear offseason.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! :(

That was Kaval or Fisher's fault. They should have shown Kinnear the door last August when he fired JD. So far, its been another wasted year.

Ceren was MOTM...for Philadelphia. I think he completed more passes to guys in white than any Union player. He and Godoy were so bad that TT had to spend much of the game playing in back to cover their butts...

OTOH, Quincy finally gave the team a spark when he entered the match, winning impossible balls and out jumping defenders.

Also, the Union players are the least classy bunch of whining divers I've seen in some time.

Yeah, I can't believe how high Quincy can still jump with a repaired leg. He definitely should be up in front of Vako.

But I thought Godoy and TT were poor tonight. I wondered what Godoy was told to do, tho. A couple of times he ran forward on balls and was in front of the forwards. Why would he do that?

There are 9 games left. Leitch should stop changing the offensive roster every game and let people play in the same spots for 3 games so they can learn their positions relative to each other. Tonight they all looked confused and lacking confidence.

    Overall just not good enough....

Some positives... Wondo won way more headers than usual especially in the first half and a few times it almost led to something when Vako ran onto the ball. Also good to see Wondo come through under pressure... and 8 straight seasons with double digit goals! A couple times Vako should have passed to him and didn't, hope that gets better.

Not counting defenders and the keeper knocking the ball back and forth, the Quakes were unable to string more than 4 passes together almost every time they had the ball and that is REALLY bad.

Tip: At any level of soccer from U10 to pros... You know the guy on the other team with #10 on his jersey? MARK HIM IN AND AROUND THE BOX! For crying out loud....

Maybe it's time to give up the "who pairs well with wondo" attempts and see what two forwards pair best overall.

Why did they play on the sides they did, by the way. Shea can't cross with his left and kept cutting back to cross with his right. Sarkodie can't cross with his right so he continuously cut back to cross with the left. Why not just switch wings

this team is not going to make the playoffs with sarkodie starting.

affolter was soft as hell on the first goal. not impressed with him so far.

A bunch of line up changes that didn't work, a poor performance and a crapp result.

We look bad and are getting worse.
