Pre-match: San Jose Earthquakes - Minnesota United FC (Saturday, 3/3) pregame thread

I'd like to thank MLS for pitching us a softball to start our season, It's about damn time.

 

There are no such things as softballs in this league, any game you take for granted is going to bite you in the ass.

Having said that, I expect a motivated Quakes team to come out aggressive, and predict a 2-0 Quakes victory, Hoesen and Wondo on the scoresheet

 

Was really looking forward to this game....then I found out I'll be out of town on business.....guess I'll be hoping to watch it online....

Guessing the starting lineup will be similar with what we saw against LA today....but with the addition of Godoy and Magnus ...

Seems Shea is going to get the starting left back position over Joel.....

That is my prediction also, 2-0.

 

I'm not a fan if that happens, I think Quiberg has earned his starting spot.

 

I haven't seen enough preseason games to make any judgement on who should be playing where.....but I do enjoy the enthusiasm Joel shows....he seems extremely happy to be part of the Quake family (not that Shea doesn't).....just nice to see new guys excited with being part of their team....Flo showed that last season....

 

Shea showed very well against LA yesterday.

 

Joel barely played yesterday. Kind of surprised. He has also said several times that he is fast but hasn't really stood out to me as being fast so far. Agreed though, great attitude and active on social media - very positive.

 

We'd better crush the loons. It's our house, and we're supposed to be improved both with new and better players and a new and better coach. I want a dominating performance where we spank the loons out of the gate. This should never be close, never be in doubt. We need to impose our will on them.

How has Minny UFC's preseason gone? I watched them lose to Charleston last week, but hard to judge by one game.

 

I wouldn't judge them by their preseason, anyway.

Look at it this way, they now boast 2 of the starting midfielders for the 2012 Supporters Shield winners.

 

Cronin and ?

 

Dawkins.

 

And with all due respect to those players I would be pleased to see them starting for Minnesota.

Anyone know if I will get coverage on Sling TV? We are test driving it right now with the thought of tossing Direct$$TV.

 

The Quakes game is on Fox Sport North, whatever channel that is. Looks like with "sling blue" you get access to three Fox Sports channels: FS1, FS2 and Fox Select Markets (not sure what that is). When I check the Sling guide I can't find the March 3 game on the listings though. When I search the sling guide for San Jose Earthquakes, Earthquakes or MLS I find no games.

Searching the DirecTV guide I find: FSWISHD 669, Saturday, 3/3 7:30pm

MLS Live might work (to help you cut the cords) but I can't tell if the game will be blacked out.
