The Quakes should negotiate for the rights to this game from Univision and make the stream available for free. Also replace the commentators with players, coaches, and Anthony, Danger, and Daniel.
I don’t think we will be keeping Espinoza once the season ends :/ I think the addition of a real attacking winger has also upped Salinas’ game. Against Chicago, Shea took players on confidently.
Unless our ownership begins to show an inclination to open up the wallet, I fear you are correct. I would suspect his value has increased over the past six months, and his transfer fee will be greater than Fisher is willing to bear. Right now, Tansfermarkt has his value as $1.71m.
Define active. The only thing I took off yesterday was my hat - It was the second one to hit the field. There was no other place in the world I would have rather been yesterday than standing next to a robust, half naked, hairy backed Ultra.
1.71 million isn't all that much, but he might be worth considerably more after the season is over if he keeps playing like he has been. It would be a shame to see him go, he's been an excellent addition. I think if Almeyda makes the case for him, and Fioranelli backs him up, they can get him. Fisher has spent a lot of money on guys that didn't end up playing a whole lot, so I think it would be easier to convince him to spend a couple for a guy that does play and is good.
And nobody does it better. Poaching is a skill - you have to sneak into the right position at the right time. Yes, it was a classic Wondo goal, and there is nothing wrong with that. So were the other three.
And players get all kinds of accolades for scoring when the goalkeeper slips or a defender whiffs...ok, celebrate the goal, but that wasn't skill, it was good fortune. Wondo has a unique ability to position himself, and more astonishing, I don't think any of the Chicago defenders tried to cover him.
Supposedly the Earthquakes paid well over a $1M for Eriksson (see https://www.mercurynews.com/2017/12/20/earthquakes-are-looking-more-swedish-with-latest-signing/). Compared to that, even $2M (or above) seem reasonable for Espinoza.
Zero evidence of Wondo's achievement on the main webpage of the Mercury News. Reminds me when they failed to send a photographer and therefore had no photos from The Comeback.
Wondo has a unique ability to get separation from defenders. Even when they try to cover him, it doesn’t always work well. Go Quakes!! - Mark
They had an article on the front page of the sports section, at least online. But yeah, the Murky News is shit. It’s sad really. Go Quakes!! Go Quakesfans!! - Mark
Was asking, because I hadn’t seen any posts from you in a while. That’s my bad for not paying attention. We met at RBA a few years ago when the Quakes were there. I’m Doug (still), I still have your 408 phone number. It’s a great day to be a Quakes fan. Like i said, hadn’t seen any posts, was hoping for the better, now I know.
Like I wrote, hadn’t seen you active on the BS boards. I saw the hats hit the turf, and yes, I saw the second one hit the field, in the highlights. Awesome.
I thought SJ was clearly trying to advance the ball faster when they had an opportunity--lot's of quicker releases for forward passes, especially by Yueill. I think that's what led to the almost catastrophic mistake when Vega passed the ball right to a Chicago player at the top of the box. He could have safely passed to Flo, but if he had successfully passed to Lima (as he attempted) he would have bypassed 5 or 6 Chicago players with that one pass. Risky--but I like the ambition.
Not sure what you mean by the "main webpage", but, the story was definitely covered Saturday. https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/05...an-as-all-time-leading-scorer-in-mls-history/
The main web page: www.mercurynews.com The Quakes and Wondo were not among the stories listed anywhere on the page, even under the sports area. It was not a digital front page story. Yes, it was covered but buried. You could not find it unless you were looking for it.
