Anyone know of any credible polling on ballot measure E?

Current polling in the Union Tribune as of last week has E polling at 32% yes. Needs 50%+1 to pass AND garner more votes than Measure G (G is polling at 57% yes).

So not looking good for E. Unless something changes drastically in the next few weeks E and SoccerCity with it, are dead.

yup, not gonna be a thing, pretty disappointing. Lots of things on the ground in San Diego are going to have to change for them to get back in the discussion. But we said that about St Louis which doesnt seem too long ago, but here we are now.

Pretty tenuous connection. A source quoting some other source supposedly in the league office. If they really backed it they should come out and say it.

SoccerCity fails, but SDSU West passes. They've talked a bit about a stadium that could also house an MLS team. Never sounded all that good, though.

Well it’s nothing solid at all. SDSU has just made it clear they’d be open to MLS coming in. But I don’t think they’re actively pursuing it.

It appears to me that the soccer city group were only in it as a "land grab development" after all. If they were serious of wanting a club for San Diego, they would be working with the SDSU stadium group and come to an arrangement like the LA Galaxy have with Cal State Dominguez Hills. All in all they could still be at the top of the expansion list. But they have done nothing at all, but take their ball home, because they lost the vote.

Which means San Diego made the right call in turning them down.

So here's a question. Is Sacramento's bad fortune of having their MLS bid likely fatally undercut by its majority owner, San Diego's possible gain? In the intervening years since Sac was approved, San Diego has got our USL side up and running, with a solid ownership group, and the city now has a right sized stadium for MLS under construction in Mission Valley (where the stadium even being started was one of the body blows Sac took in recent months).

So confirms the U-T article and the rumors that have been bouncing around town for a while. And Garber directly referencing Snapdragon stadium tells me they are happy with it as a venue.

Landon Donovan's San Diego Loyal will go to the MLS in 2024, coming from the USL.
Been told MLS commissioner has approved it.
    It's time!

It's more likely when MLS does expansion to 32 that the frontrunners would be Phoenix and Las Vegas.

In Chula Vista, which is about 10 miles south of San Diego, there is a proposal to build a stadium-village with a 50,000-seat soccer facility as the centerpiece of the development. Petra Development would like to build a sports complex and entertainment center. The proposal includes a Major League Soccer stadium. The CEO and Managing Member of Petra Development Group, Frederick McDonald said “the ideal partner would be MLS”, the investment group will continue discussions with other sports organizations leaders while it determines its next steps.” McDonald did not say who the other organizations are or how the stadium-village would be funded.

apparently a middle eastern whale has entered the picture and the Loyal are now out of the picture (maybe) the situation seems fluid and will become clear before the end of May. :-(

You are so out of touch. MLS has called for a news conference for May18th to announce San Diego as the 30th club. The club is being awarded to Mohamed Mansour and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation for an expansion fee of $500M. The San Diego Loyal are not a part of this bid and never have been. The San Diego Loyal plan to try to co-exist with the new MLS San Diego club which will begin play in 2025.
