It was Tim, he must still have a house here from when he was the coach of the Scorpions. Either way it was him as I've talked to him numerous times both when he was in Denver with the Rapids and here is SA. Glad he got another shot at a team, good luck Indy.
http://www.nba.com/spurs/spurs-spor...ounty-and-city-san-antonio-play-soccer-toyota How is this not official from USL yet?
Because...it isn't. http://www.uslsoccer.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=32800&ATCLID=210596401 "Final approval will be granted upon the completion of final due diligence, which is expected to be completed by the first of the year."
There is no reason for them to decline the membership. So it just needs the rubber stamp after the holidays. SSE already announced that the first home game will be the last week in March which tells me they are already on the schedule as well.
Off the record the Hounds have also mentioned the last weekend of March. Looks like the same time line as last year.
The Crocketeers have already pledged their support to the USL team. They've adjusted their season ticket drive to it.
The Crocketeers have always said they will support what ever team that is in San Antonio. I know they field youth teams, support the Corinthians FC (NPSL). I guess the Casuals are going thru a rebrand, but also plan on supporting SpursFC or whatever the section 118. What will be interesting.
The USL was going to strictly intra-conference games in 2016 anyway. And teams were not going to play anything like a balanced schedule with 14 teams in each conference. The league has already said that the regular season will be 30 games in 2016. The East teams will probably play everyone else in the East twice for 26 games and then play some opponents a third time to get the extra 4 games. The West teams will play everyone twice for 28 games and then only have a couple of extra games. Or they might make the schedule even more regional and not play everyone in the conference twice. The USL is pretty flexible on scheduling. You can't have everyone play on the same day with an odd number of teams but the USL very rarely ever did that anyway.
You mean the supporters group that was waiting for a real, proper, NYC club to support that put out a release stating that after ignoring the metro area's professional side for 15 or so years primarily because they play outside of the definite statutory limits of the 5 boroughs that they had decided to hitch their support behind an expansion minor league side that had purchased the IP rights to a historic NYC club whose heyday was played at the same stadium as the current first division team had played most of its seasons? The expansion club, of course, not bothering to meet the primary objection about location by actually negotiating to play outside of NYC as well. And all of this before an even more recent expansion first division team has taken up what should be an extended run in NYC, but I don't recall an updated press release from the supporters group switching their allegience to the team that actually met their primary (location) and secondary (not being named after a soda) demands? That New York supporters group? Or are you thinking of something else? Honestly, I turned down submissions to the ECG that made more sense than that reality.
Well, it would be 30, but the Aztex have to take a year off because their venue got flooded and they want to build a decent venue.
Uh, no. I mean, one conference has an extra team, yes. But everybody plays the same number of games. Just like, you know, when the NFL had 31 teams from 1999-2001. Or when the NBA had 29 teams from 1995-2002. Or all the years the NHL had an uneven number of teams. Or when MLS had 13, 15 and 19 teams. Or when the A-League had 25, 21 and 19 teams. Or when USL-1 had 11 teams. Or when the NASL had 11 teams. Or when the third division had 27, 39, 17, 13, 9, 11 and 13 teams. You can do it in sports other than baseball. Baseball, being played every day and in series, requires an even number of teams.
Right. The flooding at House was not the primary issue. The Aztex had been on a waiver from the USL from the beginning for not having a suitable stadium. "Suitable" including the ability to sell beer at the stadium. That was never going to happen at House Park. http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/b...s-only-pro-sports-team-in-dire-need-of-a.html That waiver ran out.
I' sorry im generally used to leagues having the same numbers. as bad as the FAI (football association of Ireland) is they always had a even amount of team even if team's had to play each other 4+ times
