Hi everybody, long time following, first time posting. Happy new year to all. Now to the matter at hand. I think we as fans need to set the standards higher as to who we follow in this thread. Last year a lot of players were talked about in in here. I know that we are eager to be represented in the international scene, we are really eager to have our players do well abroad. However I think and feel that we can not keep on following certain players here. They play in the U.S. second/third division ( NASL/USL )? they do not deserve to be followed here, they play in the third division of some European country?, no need to follow them here. Mexican Third Division, no thank you. Yes I know this might be harsh, but I think/feel that we are setting a very low standard as to who we follow and as such and by extension the quality of players drops. Yes making it to a pro team is really hard work and requires skills that most of us do not posses, however going from the Hungarian first division to the second division in the US is not progress (it would be if they were going the other way), yet we keep on following this players, we do not put any expectations on them and that is not right. It's getting frustrating to have so many names bandied about, just because somebody is a walk on at some soccer training camp for a team in some third or fourth division somewhere and still not make it. I think and feel that for this year in this thread we should only follow players who are playing top soccer, that is in any first division, such as Arturo Alvarez, Nelson Bonilla, Kevin Santamaria, Alexander Larin, Pablo Punyed . They deserve it. No more Burgos, Flores, Baumgartner, Henriquez and others languishing in pretty bad lower divisions. The only way we should be following someone in a lower division I think is if they are in one of the top playing countries in the world, England, Spain, Italy, Germany, Mexico, etc., and they potentially could be promoted to a first division, or however it may be called I do not think we deserve to follow players in any other lower leagues, we do not deserve it as fans, and those players do not deserve our attention. Thanks and have a good day and a great year.
Good to see you started posting. I am no fan of players going to the NASL or USL however I still like to know how players on the national team are doing. In my opinion this thread should go back to how it has been in previous years and just follow senior national team players that have been capped not anyone else
AMÉRICAS USA-MLS Darwin Ceren- Orlando City FC USA-NASL Junior Burgos- Atlanta Silverbacks Richard Menjivar- San Antonio Scorpions Andres Flores- NY Cosmos Costa Rica- 1st división Alexander Larin- CS Herediano Guatemala - 1st división Kevin Santamaria - CD Municipal EUROPE Hungary Arturo Alvarez - Videoton FC Austria Rafael Burgos- SV Reid Iceland Pablo Punyed- Stjarnan Romania Nelson Bonilla- FC Viitorul Constanta This next list is a list of players who have NOT been capped into the senior NT but have the ability to do so if they wish and if our NT coaches see fit. Americas Mexico Jairo Henriquez- Tlaxcala FC Denis Pineda -Tigres u20 Diego Coca- Tigres u20 Miguel Palafox- León u20 Gabriel Nunez- Queretaro u20 USA- NASL Tomas Granitto- FC Edmonton
@Rayado21 welcome to the forum!! Hope to see you around often!! I agree with this too. I mean, last year, Punyed and Junior Burgos eventually joined Selecta and I enjoyed following Punyed's Europa League journey, but I've never been that interested in Junior Burgos. And as a matter fact, I don't care for Orlando Pineda either; he's not even playing in Liga MX and frankly I don't know if he's any better than the players we have now. I am not against following other players with Salvadoran backgrounds (I actively follow Salvadoran-American youth players who are on USA's radar), whether they want to join us or not, but IMO they don't need to be mentioned in this thread; they can go into the 'Miscellaneous ES Discussions' thread instead. I think you're gonna have to add Baumgartner to the second list. Even though he plays at such a low division, Tuco has given him as much attention as Jairo, Pineda and Coca*. In fact, as you recall, he got called up to the ES U-21's and not Nunez, Granitto or Palafox. *Coca doesn't play for Leon, I think you meant Jose Peña. PS. thanks for making the list!
@blue_nation That list keeps getting smaller and smaller :/. From that list I would remove Gabriel and Palafox who haven't been called up to neither NT side as of right now. Also Coca is with Aguila and Peña is with Tigres. @La_Trucha Baum I wouldn't add him to the list since we barely even get updates on him in terms of playing time. I guess we can have him listed up this time but don't expect much news from him. @Elrayado21 Hello nice to see you posting here hope you keep coming by. Currently we have made improvements since then in regards to who we add to the list as compared to say two years ago. But pretty much @slaminsams covered it already we are following the NASL guys since they are getting called up if they weren't we would have taken them out of the list. As it stands we need to monitor them due to these circumstances. @slaminsams Well the youths abroad thread was kind of dead so it felt easier moving there info here plus right now it's only like 5 players (well technically 4 since Baum is damn near impossible to get news on.)
Tbh, I think this thread should remain for senior Salvadorans only; so just AA, Punyed, Rafa and Bonilla. I'd accept Jairo, Baumgartner and Granitto simply because they are seniors at their clubs; we don't have to actively follow Baumgartner but at least have him listed because he fits in the category. The juniors like Nunez, Pineda and Pena, as well as Rene, should go back into the Juniors thread. That thread also welcomes other players of Salvadoran descent to be listed, like Christian Rodriguez and Romilio Hernandez, since they wish to represent El Salvador. It's not like we always followed them every week. As for other players who play for amateur clubs like Esnal, Ruben, Gian, Mauro, Ernesto, Suglo and the Salvadoran-Italians; they can go into the Miscellaneous ES Discussions thread.
A few weeks shy of turning 21 Gabriel Nuñez has seemingly decided it's time to turn pro and as such has moved on from Querétaro and is now trying to get signed in El Salvador. He was initially offered trials with both Alianza and Santa Tecla; he chose to go with the latter.
Well, hoping he cuts in in our league. Hoping we trim out the legionarios from our league and keep it more local. Our boys need more game time to get better chances abroad
Puma Peña is back TEAM FASISTA @SoyDelRojo94 43m43 minutes ago José Angel Peña "El Puma" tiene el aval de "La Chochera" para formar parte de CD FAS para el Torneo Clausura 2015.
another opportunity has been wasted by Peña, He went to Denmark, DC United, Tigres. Nothing good has heppened with Him.
I know i sound like a broken record but for a player like Peña, at his age, going back to LMF is the best thing that could have happend! I can understand Pineda staying a little while longer - although i'd rather he too return home - but Peña was doing nothing in Mexico so him having returned is great. Here's hoping Jairo is the next to follow!
The issue becomes if he can break through if not he will end up just like Olivier coming back only to ride the bench in Alianza so far the U20 are being wasted for washed up foreigners or just as bad local players because they have the favor of the coaches.
In a season i'd say i watch atleast 8o% of all televised LMF games. And although it may be mediocre/boring to you, it's what's we've got. Better have a player there then playing juniors - at the age of 20 - in a country/league where he is not even getting game time.
