2015 tournament to take place in Bangladesh between August 7-15. Pakistan look set to withdraw. http://www.footballpakistan.com/2015/07/hayat-blames-govt-for-abrupt-saff-u-16-withdrawal-dawn/
Starts in a few days Group A Bangladesh India Sri Lanka Group B Afghanistan Maldives Nepal No Pakistan or Bhutan competing.
Very poor planning by SAFF as usual. They kept shuffling their feet when deciding a date before abruptly announcing one, not leaving an awful lot of time for the teams to prepare. I believe that the first matches would take place today.
India vs Sri Lanka at 5 pm today. http://www.bff.com.bd/bff/index.php...ick-off-sunday&catid=34:latest-news&Itemid=74 http://www.goalnepal.com/tournament_details.php?tid=136
We're probably going to narrowly win against Afghanistan in our next game, before getting smashed to smithereens by India in the semis. The U-16 coach Mohamed Shahid said before departing for the tournament that SAFF changed their minds (or most probably, FAM failed to properly communicate) regarding the legibility of players and announced that only players born after 1st January 2000 would be allowed to participate. Maldives had to revamp almost the entire squad with a week to spare, as they had been holding practice sessions with kids born in 1999. He also made a veiled reference doubting the Nepalese players ages, stating that they were "unexpectedly physically developed", noting the difference in height and strength of both sets of players. Nepalese people are generally smaller or of roughly the same height as Maldivians. I think the ANFA got into some trouble with AFC for fielding over-age players during the last AFC Under-16 Championship.
