Was pleasantly surprised to turn on the radio Saturday morning. 1140 - hour long program devoted to the Republic. Listened for about 15 minutes, but was pretty good. Don't hear soccer, especially American soccer shows on the radio very often.
Thanks! I wasn't aware they were doing this. I just checked their website and found they have the show available for playback. Here is the link: http://khtk.com/sacramento-republic-fc-hour-carmichael-dave-march-24th-2018/
Looks like Warren Smith is leaving for a job at OKC Energy. http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2018/05/15/warren-smith-leaving-sacramento-republic-fc/
MLS Sides are eying the talent in Sac-Town. First we had Mitch Taintor move away. Now The Sounders are thinking out loud about Cameron Iwasa
Professionally, probably a bad move for Iwasa. Once the Flounders get Morris back from injury and get done spending their Megabucks on a DP or five, Iwasa will be fortunate to be in the XVIII on game day, much less in the XI to start. But I hear Tacoma's nice this time of year.
I don't think that was so much about the Sounders considering Iwasa as much as a blogger suggesting him as a possible stop-gap. I don't think there's really anything there.
Some interesting insights regarding fan online criticism of last week's onfield results. https://www.indomitablecitysoccer.c...leads-to-some-harsh-criticism-on-social-media
For those that might not know, Hayden Partain hosts a podcast named "Inside the Republic" and has interviewed several players. This week's interview is Cameron Iwasa. Not any earth-shattering revelations, but a fun listen, enjoy: https:/soundcloud.com/hayden_partain/itr-cameron-iwasa
Don’t know if this fits here, but I didn’t want to start another thread..... FYI - SRFC has a branded app available on their website that i’ve been using for a few weeks. It has been very stable on my iPhone (don’t judge me, lol), and provides access to rosters, tickets, schedules, matchday writeups, etc.
I know I'm getting a little ahead of the game, but here goes... https://www.sacbee.com/sports/mls/article230846139.html With Republic FC expected to join MLS, who will be their primary rival? A guide on who to boo The article says San Jose is the obvious choice, by proximity. LAFC could be a good rival, too, based on two competitive matches so far. There's only a passing reference to Galaxy. I still have fond memories of going to SJ games so, personally, I like the LAFC idea. Otherwise, SJ is obvious, especially since MLS dissed SJ and tabbed Galaxy/LAFC for it's rivalry week promotion. Besides, Sacramento fans will learn to detest 1906 Ultras soon enough if they haven't already. I also prefer LAFC over Galaxy because ignoring Galaxy is the biggest insult. Zlatan who? Oh, and I might even hate Miami whatever-their-called the most, but that's just me.
Well, everybody will hate Austin when they come in. I think LAFC will be the "main" rival. I can actually see LAG moving to San Diego within the next decade, so LAFC will be the default "Beat LA" team. SJE will just be 'there'. We already have a SG beef with the Flounders. Portland's cool, SLC is on balance as well. I think Vancouver exists, but I'm not 100% sure about that.
Answering the Call: How Sac Republic FC is reaching fans during sports hiatus The phone rang at 2 p.m. on the dot. Sacramento Republic FC marketing manager Noah Lennon was on the other end of the line with a simple message: Let’s talk about soccer... Lennon is one of about 20 Republic FC employees manning the phones to talk to fans stuck at home as Californians play their part in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. The team has been reaching out to fans and Californians obeying Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order in a variety of ways, including videos with soccer tips, helping with groceries and concerts on its Facebook page.... The calls are part of the team’s Let’s Talk Soccer program. Fans start the process by and filling out a form on the team’s website that helps match a Republic FC employee to your own soccer interests. It doesn’t matter if you’re a casual or diehard — the calls are for anybody.... (don't click that second link from the Sac Bee article itself - they left a letter off the end of the URL)
