Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Jose, Galaxy, LAFC: a Pacific Standard Time Western Division at some point?
Except that for a vast majority of the season, it'd actually be a Pacific Daylight Time Western Division. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
While I might dislike Sacramento, Portland, Seattle, and LAFC, I loathe, LOATHE, the Filth. Every time they lose (I don't care to whom), I feel good. And every time they hire a Beckham or Ibranovitch, I go, yeah, you and your hired gun can "go to hell" (sooner rather than later).
I wonder if SAC will show us up enough that Fisher will realize we look so MLS 1.0 — and do something about it — like sell. Or if they do show us up, that Fisher simply remains content to ride the league’s coattails.
"Who will be Sacramento's MLS rivals? Execs all say the answer is clear" (MLSsoccer.com - Monday, 1/21/19) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Hate to break it to them... we don’t hate them. They were our minor league team for a couple of years for goodness sake. And we have a rival already and have had them for over 20 years, the filth. Always will be. Maybe try LAFC. They still need a rival right?
While price doesn’t mean quality per se... it’s a big number. Particularly as an opening number knowing that the price will inevitably go up. And even with inflation to start at 3x what Avaya ended up at?
"Quakes, baby! I’m sure they hate us — they don’t even know they hate us but they hate us!" Uh, no. Let's join forces and start focusing the hate on our true rivals, the LA teams
Sacramento's coach is a former Quakes player. And doesn't Adam Jahn's sister still work there? Why would they hate us?
MLS decides who our rivals are in our own best interests. Organic rivalries are messy and unbecoming.
I mean I get why they’re trying to. Alternative in their view is the Republic end up with no rivals... or worse one sided rivals. I’ve seen it happen in MLB where the league has unsuccessfully pushed the Mariners as the Padres rival (because they share a spring training stadium?) because the Padres have no natural rivals. Padres fans hate the Dodgers and would consider them a rival, but Dodgers fans couldn’t care less about the Padres (obviously the Giants are their rival). And the Mariners don’t even have a one sided rivalry.
Organic rivals defy geography. Updated to yesterday: . . . Miami Dolphins starting safety Bobby McCain will be disciplined internally for his involvement in an altercation with a Buffalo Bills fan, who said the Dolphins’ team captain spit on him . . . https://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports...0191021-4wtmt42nmfh5to5xl6tjw3udki-story.html
Just more evidence that the league thinks they know best. I wonder if they have decided we should get in the playoffs next year? Nah, we're just San Jose that "hick cowtown".
Could be worse. If the Quakes were trying to rejoin the league today instead of 2008 they’d likely be the San Francisco Earthquakes. No way they place a team where it is today if they were joining today.
